I knew about this game ever since it was first announced, but never really thought about checking it out. However I saw that's in on sale now and as a Payday/Raid fan I figured I'd give it a chance. I must say that I was surprised by how good this game is, for me at least. Sure, the cutscenes are cringe af, but the gameplay feels solid, the game modes are fun and all playable characters have their own unique personality which I didn't really expect. The progression system is also great, I like that we have so many things to work towards.

The game is still supported by the devs too, so more content on the way. I can only recommend.

As a massive Dragon Age fan (especially of the first game, Origins) I was eagerly waiting the release of this game. Knowing that in today's day and age, where game delays and massive flops are becoming a standard, I was still naive enough to have faith in Bioware and pre-order the game. I must say, they did not disappoint. And I'm glad that I ignored all the negative criticism the game received from the early reviews. It doesn't mean the game is without flaws, but more on that later.

Even though the franchise departed long ago from its Origins, one thing remained: The world of Dragon Age. Despite the devs failed to incorporate any choices or decisions you made in previous games, I quite enjoyed how they expanded and filled in the blanks of the story they established throughout the past 15 years. I felt invested during the entire 70 hours I spent with my first playthrough, and I can't wait to jump back and start all over again with a different Rook.

Of course, the game has it's flaws too. Sometimes my team felt like I'm managing a group of teenagers who can't deal with their own emotions, or things got way too corny after you saved a situation yet again with a few cheering words, sparkles, and happiness.

The gameplay itself was alright, I played on the lowest difficulty so I didn't give much thought to combat, my go-to was simply shooting standard arrows and everything died. I rarely used any of the abilites Rook or my allies had. Getting around was easy thanks to the fast travel nodes. However I didn't like the "jump down from anywhere and get teleported back to the top" mechanic. Sometimes I landed safely but things still turned to black and put me back to where I was, forcing me to take a detour for no reason.

The environments you explore are amazing, both the cities and rural areas felt distinct and carefully crafted. The level designers did very well, though a few more elaborate puzzles would've been appreciated. The clever ones can also be solved easily with dumb luck. There's only so many ways you can turn those damn statues. I really enjoyed the game's music too, but you wouldn't expect anything less with Hans Zimmer around.

All in all I can only recommend this game, I had a great time. Can't wait for some proper DLCs to be released for this.

Early Access Review
Only played two matches so far, but I see a decent game underneath the Early Access.

Things I like:
- Permadeath. Survival of the fittest my dudes.
- The extraction-shooter like gameplay loop. Sure, it's not the same as the first, but I don't mind the change.
- Melee combat. It can feel sluggish at times, but it has good feedback.

Tips for beginners:
- Sprinting seems to cost no Stamina, running away is always an option.
- Vans are your friend, climb up to be safe.
- Shove! It's basically a stun. Shove stronger zeds to put in a few easy hits.

Bugs I encountered so far:
- A few invincible zombies (maybe caused by Pipe Bomb blast)
- Zombie spawning is excessive, sometimes they appear right behind you
- Zombies climbing through barricaded windows
- Performance issues (maybe it's a me problem though)

Edit: So I played like 8-10 matches now, won the last 4. The game is actually not that hard once you play with competent people. Just keep moving and do the objectives before the zeds flood your location. The "end-game" also feels a lot like playing the original game. I really enjoy it, though it needs more content. Spawning is still broken though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit 2: 57 hours in, having lots of fun. Devs are also working hard on fixes and new content.

A great follow-up for the original. Dambusters did a great job.

This game has been sitting in my Library for years before I decided to check it out. Now, after completing it for the first time I have to say that it's not a bad game, though I came in without playing any other XCOM games before it.

You do the same cover-shooting throughout the entire game, better equipment just make things faster as you're progressing with your journey. The story was intriguing, though I feel like it got cut short by the end.

Hard to get into, since it overwhelms you with activities, but if you only concentrate on the Main Missions and the Survival Guide at the beginning, you can learn the basics and easily pick up other features then.

Early Access rating:

Came across this game through deRangutang on Youtube, it's awesome! I love the concept and the setting. Haven't played much yet but I'm sure I'll be sinking tons of hours into it.

Definitely worths its full price. If you want to support the devs, don't wait for a discount.

Full Release rating:

This game became even better than I anticipated! Kudos to the devs. Tons of content to explore and see; a worthy investment.

I've seen the game in the past on Twitch played by deRangutang and it seemed like fun, so went ahead and tried it now that it's free for a limited time. Just yesterday I played 8 hours with it. Easy to learn, pretty straightforward, and addictive. Pretty fun!

It's even better if you play it coop with friends and/or people you can work together well.

Edit: Shortly after I wrote this I purchased the game. Didn't regret it.

I had this game on my wishlist for a long time now, finally picked it up at the 2020 Winter Sale. Oh boy, it hooked me in instantly. One of the best RTS I've ever played.
