Game is fun, technically my first monster hunter (even though i own and played worlds a little bit, but never got too into it). However, the optimization is to be completely honest, bad. Sometimes the game runs okay, and than the next launch it is stuttering bad and i have to change the settings again.

I still recommend this, but i hope the performance issues will be addressed sooner, rather than latter.

I am going to say this first, the game is fun, however i cannot recommend it due to the support team for this game, of which when you try to get help, you get to go through musical chairs, and having to reiterate each and every time why exactly you need help. To be honest i think 90% of the time it is just an AI replying to you.

To make it clear the issue i was having, another player recruited me to his guild, however his main guild is on another server, so i recently transferred over. However the sales pitch was not so accurate (typical of those just trying to fluff their guilds, so whatever), and the fact that the server i was transferring to was an early access server was never said, and there was no indication in the server transfer screen of that server being an early access one. The other player even said i could transfer back if things did not work out, which you cannot do with an early access server.

I find this all out fairly quickly after the transfer, log off and stay off to not interact with the server or get any special rewards tied to it, get in touch with support, the first agent seemed to be willing to help, and than the musical chairs began of one agent after another posting copy and paste responses. They say they are not able to place me back into my original server, which is a flat out lie, given they even have an official announcement where they said they put those who made a character on an early access server and transferred out back into their original servers.

In case you are wondering, a server transfer for this game takes about 10 seconds. you use a ticket in the transfer menu, it logs you out, and when you log back in you are in the other server. the support is either lazy or flat out incompetent.

if you want to play, than play the story as far as you can, but once you are required to do raids and honing just drop it, or do whatever islands you can that are not co-op required.

There are solo versions of most raids, but to be honest even though they are soloable, they just reveal how poorly thought out and designed the attack patterns of some of the bosses really are. Such as when having to do a mechanic to stop a wipe, the boss will literally spam you with knockdowns, knock offs or even movement freezes which cover a large section of the arena.

Sure you could roll to dodge, but than you have a long cooldown before you can dodge again, sure you could get back up but that cooldown is 30 seconds.

once you get to honing, it is pretty much gambling at the higher item levels, such as 5% or so to go higher. which by the way would not be so bad if the story content and new content outside of raids did not require you to get to those levels.

there is an "event" right now at the time of posting this, that "boosts" your honing chance by double.... it is actually not by much, it will still take awhile to catch up to content even if you are not racing to catch up with other players.

this game is entirely not worth your time, there are better games, with better raids and story out there. even the original server for this game is struggling last i heard, because of these issues.

really fun game, the current "endgame" could use a little tweaking to balance out the capture rate a little, but other than that, as long as content and bug fixes keep coming i see a good future for this game.

i absolutely under no circumstance can recommend this game, *IF you only want to play it with controller.

the reason for this is, that it does not have full controller support as far as i can tell. the issue is, with an xbox one controller, wired, the joysticks are swapped, the buttons are jumbled and there is no way in game to change this or fix it. i have done everything from going through my own system to delete some things that could be the issue, to installing 3rd party programs, all of which offered no results. i even used an old wired xbox 360 controller, and it had the same exact issues as well. this makes it clear that it is something on the developers end, since nothing i do does anything. i even unplugged my mouse and keyboard to no avail.

This game is not the only one from this publisher that has this issue, during my goose chase through various reddit threads and forums, many of their games have this issue.

if you are still going to get this game after reading this, good luck. The game is really fun, just like the original Saints Row 3, but even though the graphics are updated, it still shares many of the same bugs.

the game is honestly really good and worth full price, and honestly in my opinion there is very few major mechanical drawbacks for HL that actively hurt it, as how it currently is..

many reviews already sing the praises, so i am going to bring up the negatives that i had issue with while playing.

the main one being the lockpick minigame, why is it even there? it feels and looks so out of place and tacked on, and after the first few locks, it is just tedious.

The lack of NG+ so cosmetics and RoR (room of requirement) stuff can go into more playthroughs.

and how you cannot actually build up on your characters friendships, they are all just kinda there to move things along, cannot even go adventuring with one of them during the downtime between missions, and have to constantly hear the mc ♥♥♥♥♥ about how he or she is alone while you do adventure.

other things are pretty minor and are just a bit of nit picking, like the forbidden spells should have been learned all at once, or a lot earlier as their own side quest not tied to story progression. especially since barely anyone reacts to the mc using the curses anyways.

All the vivariums (where you keep beasts) should have just been made available as soon as the first one unlocked, or as a "convert moonstone to unlock" (a currency you exclusively use in the RoR), since by the time you get the last one, the game is almost over. It is the same with the last beast you get "because of story", it really should have just been available earlier instead of right at the end.

that is just my opinion on it, The game is REALLY good, but some things could have been done differently to improve it even more.

Base game? yes, absolutely. it is fun. the season pass? hahaha hell no, way over priced for what it is, which is no story, just 1 really annoying endgame boss fight per each dlc drop that are in a depths map (a map filled with monsters and some items sprinkled, no story at all so nothing special, and a boss room) and some really crap bloodcodes, armor and weapons (the weapons look cool, but that is it) you are not going to use because they are literally worse than even the worse weapons that are in the rest of the game.

Not going to lie, I cheated to get pretty much all that matters from the first dlc drop. Just going to say, the price is highway robbery for what this DLC is.

The DLC is NOT a new story, or additional story, or a continuation of the story, it seems it is just 3 depths maps and going to be crappy blood codes that do not really do jack or have any practical uses.

The fight for DLC drop 1 Hellfire Knight is stupidly tedious, you are pretty much fighting a God Eater monster, and yes i know that is what it is, it is the GE monster Hannibal, however it's moveset feels like it was mainly made for God Eater and not Code Vein. To add onto that, it is a complete damage sponge that hits like a truck.

The new Blood Veils are ugly except for the Hound Type one which is just plain, and they are not that great, the same for the weapons. They are just not worth it at all for the amount of bs the fight to get them is. Sure the weapons look cool but they just plain suck.
