-Less gamemodes, unlimited forms and gag reels compared to his predecessor (BBCP)
- Some game mechanics like Crush Trigger serve no purpose other than combo extension, OD is too punishing when used as a burst
- Mash unfriendly game, hold barrier simulator
- Some fighters can easily force a 50/50 (low and IOH) with a easy accessible blockstring
- Cant stay in training mode while waiting for a online match
- Knowledge checks are overwhelming for new players
+ Cool final roster
+ Top tier bgm

Wanna start off in 2026? Pick Mai or Susanooh and go Blazblue:Centralfiction all over the place

Despite efforts of the devs who managed to make usable standalone shaders outside of using Retroarch, this software its pointless anyway.
Why i would use this outside of emulation? Barely any modern pixel games looks good behind the filters since they were designed with LCD screens in mind, not CRT. For next gen graphics, i'd rather use Reshade anyway.
Pointless.

Meh game honestly.
-Cant multi Queue in casual mode, most people just play ranked while no one plays FFA and 2vs2
-cannot choose between buffer and no buffer, neither adjust the amount (game forces you to use buffer)
-Boring universal mechanics with cookie cutter combos: Babydashing, moonwalking, ledge dashing, wavelanding etc. arent really fun movement options to pull off like the names suggest, also, DI is worthless
-Fighters largely spamming their spammable move. Everyone feels like they had Melee Ganondorf as a grandfather.
°this game sucks very very low percent, and higher percent most characters just go for a kill move. Every Rival has some stickiness to the wall, every character has a move like the Falcon or ganon down B that allows them back to the stage and to hug that stupid wall. It just made off stage interactions worse, it made kill percents worse
-Online official guides for the characters are good but the ingame tutorial is bare bones
-offline content is still non-existent outside of Arcade mode

TL;DR just go play 2D anime fighters if you're looking for fun movements options in a FG unlike platform games

As day one player, proud owner of PoG mate (i played most of the time on Switch), i can safely say KoJ went on a loose.
Master Duel at the start, it wasnt perfect with lot of stupid cards going free like Halq, Very Fun Dragon, Rhongo Bhongo, Unlimited Starving Venom etc. But it had some crazy funny stuff going around unlike irl like the 1st XYZ event being "Self-FTK decks Vs Anti Self-FTK decks" or the Invasion of The Chinese DD Dynamite Bots™.
At the start, at least you had a good variety of choices of decks you could play with since most of them had very few in-archetype URs (Like Tribrigade or Eldlich), we had a few bad formats inbetween like Halq-Adventurer's degenerate boards or Runick stun, we had it close to have the most balanced format at the time right after Konami banned Statue of Wind summoned by Floowandereeze (the most masculine and based archetype ever)..
Until the POTE set came out in MD and Yu-Gi-Oh ever recovered from here. Now there's a huge disparity between Tiered and Rouge decks since everything before either got nerfed to the ground or powercreept.
Konami listening to the complains about the game being behind paper and they went "What? You want to enjoy a normal simply and varied metagame with the start of Series 12? lol screw you we release Poplar 6 months earlier" and sooooo if you deck isnt the current shillmon archetype, lol enjoy your 30 loss streak against 30 Snake-eyes Fire King/ Yubel until the heat death of the universe, those decks dont really put any kind of spammy omninegates, but they're soo damn versatile it essentially covers every rouge strategy, outright killing their viability in the format.
Snake-eyes gettin a good hit wouldnt matter anyway because trolololol new support: Azamina the 2.0 adventurer engine yay! And im already dreading upcoming toxic new cards like Tenpai, Maxx C 2 or Fiendsmith engine.
Doesnt help either Konami spamming 10000 Duelist Cups (Skinner boxes) down on my throat when YGO playerbase is mostly casual, not hyper competitive (They cant even have make a decent tournament format without it being slow and clunky xD).
Dont bother play, game is currently devoid of any real content while driving away new players with loaded amount of UR to spend no really Voiceless Voice for 11 UR (and not counting the staples) is extremely greedy when that deck is not even good..
At least the game had good coomer mods
