I almost completed all base game achievements in The Surge 2 and want to spread my opinions about it.
I enjoyed all Dark Souls Games pretty much, but I'm not that of a hardcore player and suck at games.

PROS:

- Combat System: This is what I mainly look for in Video Games. The Combat is very fluent and dynamic, letting you decide your own playstyle. You decide if you want to play a dodge-oriented or block-oriented playstyle or just blindly smash your enemies.
- Difficulty: The game is not that difficult on its first playthrough and you can make up for your lack of talent with grinding. If you do want a more difficult game, you can try killing the bosses in a harder variant to gain exclusive items.
- Level Design: Very cool Dark Souls 1-esque Level Design for the most part where you unlock shortcuts and progress known areas further with gadgets you get while progressing the game. There is lots of room to explore and find new paths and items.
- Replayability: You easily miss out some very cool Quests in your first playthrough. I highly recommend going into new game plus, there are some (but not too much) new things to discover
- Crafting: Very well thought-out crafting system and interface. Easily one of the most intuitive interfaces I encountered in games for a long time
- Controller: Intuitive Controller Support throughout all interfaces and aspects of the game

CONS

- You could miss out on any Quest aside from the Main Quest if you don't explore much
- Art Style / Graphics: Not super fancy and not that unique, but I don't really care. The combat system makes up for it
- NG+ Rewards: NG+ does not seem to contain much new things apart from DLC weapons and armors and a rarely a new thing in a known chest. I wish there would be more differences in an ng+.
- Multiplayer: No real multiplayer functionality

CONCLUSION

- Pick it up at any price if you are a Dark Souls Fan or look for Games with an engaging combat system. The Combat sytem carries the game so much
- Pick it up on sale if you don't care for Dark Souls and are not that talented in video games. The game does a really good job on player onboarding and individual difficulty

I want the game to get much more exposure. Deck13, please spend more resources into marketing and advertising. How come I live in Leipzig, Germany and see big adverts for Anthem, but not for The Surge 2?

Play this game while it is discounted, you will love it.
