if you're a salty old unturned pvp vet like me, this game will rock
if you're a salty old battlefield vet, this game will rock
if you want a nice, crisp, simple drop-in-and-play shooter without all the extra ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ from modern fps, this game will rock

verdict:
this game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rocks

There's a joke I made with some friends the other day that stuck with me; you'll only catch me playing No Man's Sky when I'm exceedingly depressed.

That being said - this game's genuinely been a constant companion during hardship. There's something special about booting my save made almost half a decade ago, hopping into an old reliable ship, grinning and wincing at my horribly outdated bases and seeing just how far it's gotten with every update that's dropped and every hiatus I've taken.

I remember the good times I had building my older bases; I remember the hard times that drove me to lower my head and occupy myself with my newer ones. I remember checking out all of the new content, playing around with the stuff that was added, maybe integrating it into what I have and still seeing those effects to this day. There's a palpable layer of nostalgia to it all, and it helps me clear my mind when I need it most.

Thanks for that, HG.

to paraphrase a longer, far better written review: "The best game I will never recommend to anyone."

should have won labor of love. this game rocks. its to Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead as Rimworld is to Dwarf Fortress: the quintessential zombie game.

If the thumbnail videos and game description are enough to interest you, buy this game. Do not look into it any further. You will not regret it.

this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome. a tough as nails norseman sim that somehow manages to provide both a brutally satisfying RPG grind and a surprisingly in-depth building and farming experience. many of the mechanics are fresh and unique - instead of eating to fill an arbitrary hunger meter, food serves to temporarily pad out your health and/or stamina as to prevent you from getting outpaced or instantly killed in high level areas. it's cool as ♥♥♥♥.
it's made even better with friends, and modders aren't shy either, granting a ton of extra content and replay value to boot. the unique retro art style is the real icing on the cake, the beautiful shaders somehow complimenting this whole package perfectly.
with all of that said, this IS an Early Access title, so some level of jank is to be expected, and endgame as of writing will leave much to be desired. for what it's worth, though? this is an absolute must-grab for any action RPG and sandbox enthusiasts out there. bonus points if you net a few other vikings.

im not going to waste any more breath on this game
do not support bungie by buying this DLC, they did not nearly make up for the amount of content they removed with the paltry few guns, activities, and strikes included, and sunsetting/vaulting is now a constant, looming threat to your sisyphean grind
while deep stone crypt is a great raid, it is piss easy compared to every other raid the game has (had) to offer, and i absolutely wouldnt recommend buying this dlc just for that or stasis, or what little else it offers for that matter

do better, bungo.
