It's a Metroidvania with no combat. You're going to have to use your brain for this one. That's not for everyone, but if you're the kind of person Animal Well is for, it's amazing. You can tell it was truly a labor of love by its creator.

Pros:
- The art style is fantastic.
- The game is very well-optimized.
- The platforming feels tight.
- You can get creative with your solutions (leaping directly onto a disc as you throw it is a good skill to learn).
- The sound design is excellent.
- Lots of secrets to find!
- There's no grind, the game respects your time.

Cons:
- Some of the main puzzles can be a little difficult to figure out (which, admittedly, is the whole point).
- I didn't feel compelled to replay it a ton.

9.5/10

Ha! Haha! HAHAHAHA! Your vampire is in another coffin. Worth the money, though.

Warhammer 40K: Boltgun is a game that is blatant about what it's doing. "You are a Space Marine. The heretics are over there. Here's your Boltgun and Chainsword, have fun." This is a good thing. You play as a Space Marine, which is a sort of tall, angry refrigerator with a sprint that would make Usain Bolt envious and a gun that can best be described as "normally crew-served."

Pros:
- The weapons all feel fantastic. They're punchy, sound great, and all of them are useful.
- The player character feels like a walking tank without being slow.
- The level design is beautiful, especially in levels involving heretical Warp nonsense.
- Enemies are easy to differentiate (from each other and the environment) and read.
- Difficulty is just right. When I die it's because I messed up.
- The game itself looks very nice and runs very nice. Granted, I'm on an RTX 3070/Ryzen 5800X, but still.
- It's cheap!

Cons:
- The combat can get a little same-y sometimes.
- Some of the levels drag on just a little too long.
- The lack of character progression (for example, Machine Spirits only lasting for one level) makes it feel like you aren't progressing as much as you are.
- Having to rebuild your arsenal at the beginning of every chapter is something that should have been left behind in the old days.
- It does kinda need a map.

All that said, it's a very solid game, especially at the price they're asking. It's no Filet Mignon, but more like getting a NY Strip at hamburger prices. I'm happy it's as good as it is, and I hope they get the chance to make a sequel.

So, you know how you have that memory of a game you played during your childhood, but when you go back to play it, it's nothing like you remember? If that game was a Sonic game on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, playing Sonic Mania is like playing your memory of it. It's nostalgic without feeling old. It's new without feeling complicated. It's a love letter to fans of the old-school Sonic games.

Rip a robotic headcrab off your face and beat it to death with a brick. Climb like Spider-Man. Shoot zombies in the face with an Uzi. Remember how, in Breath of the Wild, they said "screw it, beat the shrines however you want?" Well that's the whole game. Unlike a lot of VR games, this isn't just a tech demo, it's a full-length game. Also, you can play it sitting down or standing up.

I bought it on sale, and didn't play any of the multiplayer. The single player campaign was fun, and all the gimmicks actually stick around long enough to have fun playing with them (as opposed to Call of Duty, where they tend to hand you a new toy, let you use it once, and then you move on).

The controls work well enough and are fairly intuitive. The only real complaint I have with them is that sometimes it was harder to tell how far you're going to jump, sometimes causing me to overshoot a platform.

The campaign could have been a little bit longer, but for what I spent it was worth the money, and what we did get was pretty good. At no point did a fight or a mission feel like it was dragging on longer than it needed to. Less than ten bucks for eight hours of solid entertainment is a good deal.

All in all, I'd give it a solid 8.9/10.

The game is excellent, 10/10. But what you're gonna want to do for the Marauders is hit them with the Arbalest when they flash green, and again while they're staggered. Dodge their attacks, kill the wolf, rinse and repeat. Some people like to alternate between the regular Ballista and Super Shotgun. That might work better for you, so give it a go. Make sure you have the lock-on mod for the Rocket Launcher before you go to Urdak, and Blood Punch those Pinkies and Cyber-Mancubi.

Update: Horde Mode is brutal. It will challenge your skills.

You can throw a baby in the oven, and that has a positive outcome. Graphics are okay. 10/10

Edit - Free DLC is nice, expansions are worth the money. 11/10

It's pretty much "Kickass Rock & Roll Van Mural: The Game." If that doesn't sell you on it, you have failed, and there is no helping you. Get off my planet.

If you can't enjoy this game, it's obviously due to your lack of a soul. Perhaps try religion and/or devilish dealings in an ill-fated effort to obtain a soul? If it works, play this game a second time, so you can actually enjoy it.
