I came into this unfocused mess of awesome ideas 4 years after release, because i tried the demo at PAX2013 and felt like a ME3 console shooter, horrible GUI and all. I can't even recognize that game in the current build, which is a co-op TPS / hack n slash with so many different currencies and features they probably make most of their profits with initial purchases. People wanting to just buy everything with plat at the beginning than learn about endo, credits, void relics, affinity seem to be a lot of the people with purchase-only equipment.

Missions are repetitive and rough around the edges, similar to its Bungie competitor Destiny, with none of that game's price gouging or locked content. Enemy variety, from three main factions of enemies, Infested, Grineer and Corpus provide the bare minimum from making them outright boring.

Quests have surprisingly strong narrative which feels disconnected from most of the gameplay in said quests, with special boss fights being the exception. This game knows at what point to introduce you to a new system, let it be Focus, the companions, the operators, archwings, etc.

Syndicates play out a lot like factions in Fallout, as they provide unique quests and rewards and aesthetically go overboard so you can relate to one and despise others (New Loka are dirty hippies, Red Veil are edgelords anonymous)

Bosses tend to be massively underwhelming weakpoint simulations that through mobs at you but the few exceptions allow for some great teamwork, though power creep is an issue, as you can comparatively become as powerful as you are in the last chapter of an RPG or action game pretty soon.

This is at the core a grinding simulator that you can ease the pain with friends, though it’s not the progression that's addicting but more the movement, combat and gameplay. It can be completely altered by one's choice in frame, and though it can sometimes feel light the combat is some of the fastest I’ve seen outside of a PlatinumGames tittle.
