Came because Sseth gives good reccomendations.
Is it a good game? Yes. Can't think of many other stock-market simulators out there which are as fun as this. The strength of the game is that it is open to short-term bursts of fun - but this is also a weakness; in 2 hours of play I could afford the most expensive upgrades and had experienced 3 endings. Had a lot of fun in that time, but for the cost, this can be a bit hard to justify. Not sure how much I'll be coming back to it, but it makes for a fun game that I can play on a laptop.
Still, it's probably worth it for the music alone.

Best-written game I've ever played.
It takes effort to get into; a few hours to get the gist of the lore that they dole out, and maybe a few more before the implications of the setting and world really hit you.

You don't need a degree in political science but you do need an understanding of the 4 quadrants. If you can recognise a need for self-criticism on the levels of your morals, behaviour, and gamer culture, you'll love this game.

I remember when I saw the hype train of Undertale following it's release. All these images in my newsfeeds which seemed amusing, but not enough to pursue in depth. It seemed like the sort of 2nd degree point of internet culture that I'd never bother to search for. In the early days, I saw enough of a variety of positive reviews that it seemed to strike me as a decent game, but one which I still didn't have the time or interest for.

And then the hype had the inevitable retaliation, just as all bandwagons do. Associated with the crap of tumblr, a game which was promoted for hype rather than being better than other games on any really objective measures. I grew suspicious of it, and eventually grew to ignore it because I leant towards the opinion of disliking overrated games. The hype kept with me though; I had friends play the soundtrack to me when we met up, and I saw cynical Youtubers like Yahtzee Crowshaw or Facebook pages like NYJWFP singing it's praise. And so I relented and bought the game.

I was just amazed. After the first boss I faced, I realised that either it was an exceptional game, or I just haven't played enough others. Since then I've seen reviews praising other games like Fly Me To the Moon and Lisa, and I think I'll have to get around to playing them for a more comprehensive opinion, but honestly? I don't think that takes away from just how great this game is. That something as simple as this in art and music style kept me up at night...that was what struck me the most about it. I left the game for a while after I made a mistake, but then eventually came back and binged the rest of my first playthrough overnight weeks after. I'm writing this now because I need to vent about the game; like an incredibly touching film, it has affected me such that I need to reflect upon the endings that I've seen, and what I'll take from it into life. Pretentious statement, eh?

To the cynics or the apathetic, consider that popular culture isn't always a terrible thing just for being popular. Yes, there will always be crowds of people who don't enjoy whatever aspect of the game, and yet I think that's a moot point. You are reading reviews if you see this, and then you need to have played the game to be able to understand the opinions, one way or the other.

Whether you think I'm shilling it or not, I think everyone should play this. It costs less than a movie ticket, and it'll change your perspective.
