I liked the game, but I am unable to get a playstation account so I am now unable to play further. If you have a playstation account already or are in a region wherein a playstation account is easily made then the game is great. Otherwise you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

A classic, reimagined and remade. It's great.

So far I have enjoyed the game. The gunplay is awesome, the movement system is solid and with exception of a few things there are very little bugs. So why have I decided to go with no for recommendation? Quite simply the body swapping mechanics.

The first problem came with speed, the mission where you are supposed to find your way through a parkour map. The only problem is that there is no direction with the game. I have no idea where I was supposed to go. And so it just lead to me trying to do something and then I end up dying from falling a bunch of times until realising that I was supposed to go another direction entirely. Then the second problem came. The short character model was exceptionally jarring. It was on the moon and so it was slow and gravity was low. And the issue of a lack of direction was exceptionally obvious. I had no idea what or where I was supposed to go.

Then the last two missions I just came and it has caused me to stop playing for the night. And I count myself quite strong in terms of VR endurance. The go cart mission and then the pillar mission. The go cart mission was horrible, it was like the previous cart section but even worse somehow. I couldn't control the go-cart without it spinning out excessively and the controls for the carts were horrible. I had movement bound to my left thumb stick. But for some reason beyond my comprehension it required me to push my right thumb stick forward to get any acceleration. This was especially jarring because I expected it to be the triggers instead, like any other car based video game would choose. This would have been fine. It's just 10 or so minutes faffing about trying to get past a race against myself. Nothing wrong with that and no real failure so I could just walk around the track if I had to in order to get past. But no the worst was yet to come.

The pillar level is absolutely, without a doubt the worst mission in a VR game I have ever had the displeasure to play. Not only does your character have excessive height compared to the previous character which is fine. But the lack of direction and lack of information completely destroy any fun I was having. The objective of the mission is to reach the top of the pillar and deal with the giant ball thing that escaped from the bottom. So in order to do that you have to climb up this course effectively but there is problems. The level is designed around the tall character, however this mission decided to introduce an enemy type which will change your model to another one. Effectively forcing you to either wait for another enemy to change you back or to try to climb as a much smaller character. The constant shifting outside of my control has caused me right now to be very sickly. As I kept on changing from tall to short and back again. When you get to about half way up, they then add another enemy type to make it that much harder. Little turrets on a ball which will shoot you with fireballs. Now normally you would shoot back but the problem is that the tall character is so massive that the pistol and rifle's etc etc are impractical. It's hard to reload and hard to aim. And when I tried it, there has been a bug which causes your grab button to instead summon up whatever gun was last in it. When that happens you either use that weapon or you don't use that arm. You have to reset if you get that bug. But let's say you do end up at the top. The lack of direction or communication then rears it's ugly head. Because I died 5 times and went back to the previous mission once because of this, I tried to just get onto the platform, which caused me to die. I tried to shoot the ball. Nothing happened. I tried to grab the ball and drag it back onto the platform, it killed me. I tried to grab onto the ball and shoot it. Nothing happened and it killed me. Finally I looked online and turns out it gives no indication but the shooting it does indeed does it damage. And you're meant to mag dump into the thing.

Overall it's a great game but because of those problems I simply cannot recommend this game to anyone unless they understand the risks involved. Now if you excuse me, I have a toilet to throw up into.

While good and I do recommend it the game has had a checkered past. However I can report that the bugs were overblown and the gameplay was fine.

Early Access Review
Currently this game is fun and has a great style to it however I would like if it had a bit more polish before I feel comfortable with a proper review of the game.

I have played for 11 hours as of writing this review and through out my gameplay I had a lot of fun as it's the good old reach. There is 3 cons though. Firstly the way you gain new armour decals is just horrible and doesn't resemble the old style in the slightest however it's all cosmetics and by the end of the season you'll have everything regardless. Secondly custom game maps, all 6.2 million of them, require you to find a person who has the map and game mode you want and download it from them. This is a massively painful way of getting it done and has a lot of faults. And thirdly the Keyboard and Mouse vs Controller debate is a pain and everyone screams on both sides. From my experience those with controller have 2 main advantages. They have a higher amount of change for headshots with snipers and they also get stronger bullet magnetism overall from my feel with it.

Even with those drawbacks the game is as fun as it has always been and I would recommend it for anyone who remembers or wants the experience. When forge comes out for reach and when 3 comes out I'll amend the review in response to those two as those are my most anticipated parts of this game overall.

The game was fun but now that beyond light has came out, they have completely ruined most of their good will.

(I have started to play this once again so will amend when my opinion might change.)
