Don't mind me, just throwing my hat over here to counterbalance a bit the misguided chinese critics bashing the game because the devs had a translation mod linking to a pirate site deleted. The modder whined on a chinese site that the devs were mean with chinese people, and they came to bash the game without having any clue of what was going on. That's internet for you.

Haven't had time to play it in depth yet, but it's gorgeous and very intriguing, a 4x with sort of a fantasy/sci-fi storyline mixed in, with original mechanics. It looks very interesting.

@Sirius: It's not the developer's fault because the mod author didn't follow rules. It's not the developer's fault Chinese people can't understand English. And it's not the developer's fault the Chinese bought a game without the proper language support.

The game received a lot of flack for things the developer should not be held accountable for, and that's completely inequitable.

Well then. (Actually I think this is a good game too, however i cannot play the game now. It is really hard for me to distinguish the names of those units and spices :((((:steamsad:

I understand the disappointement. But it should be taken out on the author who violated the Steam TOS, not on a small studio of developers who made a good game. It's not their fault if Chinese players who can only read chinese bought a game who doesn't have a chinese translation, and the mod was pulled out, by Steam, because the mod author violated the TOS.

The whole situation is the mod author's fault. Him claiming otherwise on a chinese site to draw the ire of chinese players on the developers is just another scumbag move on his part, and people shouldn't believe him blindly and ruin the game's reviews without checking the facts. Opinions are only valid if based on facts, otherwise it's just credulity.

.Besides, English games are really hard to play for many Chinese people, they bought this game since this guy made a mod for them, but then this mod was banned and the author himself was banned too. No official Chinese version, this made those players cannot understand the contents of this game anymore. So please understand that they bought a game can couldn't play it, that is the reason why they give low marks to this game ---- they are just warning the other Chinese players, this game have no Chinese version and it seems like there will never be a Chinese version.......

Well,I'm just showing you a different opinion because I have already read the statement made by the auuthor himself, and the fact is most of the Chinese who use steam and buy games from steam always looks down on those pirate websites. The author himself has claimed that he hates the pirate games, at the first time when the mod was released he has already stated that the mod will never be available for pirate versions. So I can hardly understand why he would put a piracy site link......this is unreasonable.....

Case in point: Sirius.

The mod author for the Cinese translation provided links to a piracy site, a breach in their rules. The mod author was warned to update and remove the link, ignored this, and was subsequently taken down. He did this on Torchlight 2, so I've heard, but they ignored him. Now it seems he's causing a stink because someone's cracked down on him.
Not too mention is latest versions broke after they updated the game, a natural thing to happen, but the mod author was simply lazy and refused to keep updating his translation mod.
No one is disrespecting the Chinese. They dislike the mod author for seemingly acting like a scumbag, and now find it shameful at how easy it was to fan a flamewar and get Chinese people to think this was about racial discriminationk, which it wasn't. This was more about legal implications.

It is you who know nothing about that event. The mod author have never put his mod on a pirate website or put any links of those website. The fact is that author himself was banned without any reasonable explanations. Hope you can learn more about this event through a justice and true perspective.

Seems reasonable. But outraged people beeing outraged for the sake of it.
Navarre 14 Oct, 2016 @ 7:43am
They updated it, the mod broke, the mod author put a link to a pirate site because he didn't want to update his mod, somebody signaled it to the devs who had Steam remove the mod for violation of the TOS.
