Let's get one thing out out of the way: if you call Terraria 2D Minecraft you're an idiot, because Terraria is not mainly a survival game where you're free to do whatever you want at your own pace (even though you can do that with the newly introduced Journey mode).
With that out of the way, let's see some pros and cons of the game.

Pros
- 17 main bosses that will most likely give you a challenge on your first playthrough.
- 4 types of damage with tons of weapons to use.
- Expert mode that will destroy you the first time you try it, but also adds incredible new loot.
- You can make a lot of progress just by exploring, instead of doing boring things like mining for ores.
- It has golf.
- Inventory management is made quite easy with features like quick stacking and restocking.
- Amazing soundtrack.
- Lots of replay value.
- The game has some the best mods I have ever seen, with great mod support.

Cons
- Master mode is difficult in the most annoying way possible, unlike expert it doesn't add any new attacks, instead just amps up the damage, which doesn't really make bosses harder if you're used to expert, but makes events insufferable. Enemies in the event will 2 shot you with attacks that become almost impossible to dodge because of the sheer amount of projectiles. (and yes I have beaten it)
- Game animations are locked to 60 FPS, so no support for monitors over 60 Hz (but that's kind of a first world problem)
