PROS:
- The combat is visceral, fast paced, and satisfying.
- The weapons have a lot of variety
- The co-op quickplay and mission board works well and it's easy to jump in and play
- The graphical detail is incredible for this type of game and a big step up from previous titles

CONS:
- Max level is too easy to achieve, and xp continues to be gained for no purpose.
- Can feel grindy when it comes to trying to gain coin and materials for crafting end game items

Overall, the game is good and the combat can be tactical with different builds in a 4 player co-op experience. At max level, I wish they would implement something to utilize all the xp gains - possibly turn them into materials of your choice, or just to allow a 'flex' by having pseudo levels (no power gain) to show how far you have gone with a character - possibly with cosmetic unlocks.

This is a good game - not amazing, but good. I did 2 full runs on Normal and then Hard NG+.

It is only like XCOM in the fact that you deploy squads on missions to fight aliens, and use base management to keep your resources and soldiers healthy. It is not like XCOM in the actual gameplay and combat, as this game has a very unique style of combat and it's quite fun.

Instead of it being a tactical turn base approach, you control your squad as a single entity in real time with a slow mo option available to choose your skills wisely as you move, and commands you issue will cause the required soldier to act. The game can be quite challenging to a new player, but once you learn how to play, it is a lot easier. Subtlety is required to win, as wasting ammo and increasing the alien aggressiveness meter will force you to extract and re-deploy the same mission, while wasting time and resources.

The game itself isn't overly long, and there are a few cinematic missions that are just for story content.

I give it a solid 7/10 as there were a few things I wish were utilized better. For instance, the game is too short for some of the base management facilities to be useful, as well as certain research and weapons.

Take everything we love from classic Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 - now add story writing, voice acting, graphics, cut scenes, soundtrack, and tactical combat from the modern RPG era, and you get this masterpiece.

If you like Remnant 1, you will like this. If you like Dark Souls type games, but with added guns, you will like this. You will probably like this.

Addicting roguelite game where you put together a combination of 4 heroes, with various skills and specialized paths to try and take down bosses with specific tactics that must be met with your own. The more you fail, the stronger you get with an upgrade system that improves on your heroes and items.

Interesting and exciting atmosphere and dialogue, as well as relationships, and random quirks with your heroes that make each run different.

Don't be afraid to fail and keep trying, as it's part of the game.

Without having played any of the prior games in the series, and also not being a huge fan of action/adventure style games, I must say this one is really great. Not only is the storytelling, lore, and mythology very interesting, the combat is challenging and exciting, as well as very epic boss fights and animations.

The only bad thing I could say is that if you like to find and collect everything like I do, there is a lot of going backwards to previously visited areas.

9/10

This game is Slay The Spire meets Dark Souls; however, lacking depth both of those titles provide respectively.

Reviews have described Ravenbound as an "open world RPG" - it is not. This is a Roguelite title, where repeated deaths is a certainty, and luck of the draw is important. While the world is gorgeous, it is not filled with quests, exploration, voice acted characters, and the likes that we see in an RPG. The real gem that makes the game fun is the incredible difficulty succeeding in combat based on cards drawn, weapon style, and player skill.

Again, this game is not an RPG. If you are looking for story and an incredible world filled with questing and adventure, then look elsewhere. If you love Roguelite games with a high difficulty curve, then this is where you belong.

I have to recommend this game based on the sheer unique and exciting game style it presents. It offers both a meta and micro style of play combined with well written dialogue and historically accurate descriptions. The game was well done and it shows.

The caveat I have is the game isn't very challenging (on default difficulty) and it's quite long, making certain progression feel trivial and unexciting. It feels like playing an XCOM game on 'Story Mode' or more like a tutorial with a story.

This is probably one of the better 4 player co-op games on Steam right now IF you don't mind 1st person view combat. Since its release, there have been many DLC and content, including new career choices for more combat variety. The combat is very action paced and well done.

The bad parts - the game suffers from some minor, yet annoying technical problems that have not been fixed since its release years ago. When closing the game, there's about a 50% chance the launcher does not close properly, and remains running in Steam, which then needs to be shut down in task manager - annoying. Also, the game is very prone to crashing, and one might have to do some weird and crazy stunts to get it to stop. For me, I have to add a -200 Core Clock offset to my GPU using MSI Afterburner. You might think this is PC specific to me, but I remember having this problem 3-4yrs ago with a completely different PC than I have now - yet same exact problems as described above.

tl;dr: Gameplay is great, but technical aspects are finnicky and will never get resolved.

I have to give this game a good review, because the amount of QoL features and the story driven campaign was done really well. The game suffers from some performance issues, but so does every released game recently. The quality of the game should not get a bad review over some performance issues that will get resolved.

Once the true sandbox mode of Immortal Empires gets added, we will see a lot more people flocking to the game with excitement as that seems to be the true epitome of this series.
