Janky AF. I bought it on sale for $10.49. It's not even worth that much.

The interface is clumsy at best. Its like they just ignored all the modern design language from recent survival and first person action RPG games.

I connected to the North America PVE region-locked server - hoping to avoid the roaming gangs of non-English speaking trolls. Instead, I saw not a single person. I think there might've been 10 people on the server and someone said, "There are a lot of English speaking people on today!"

In addition, when I tried actually playing the game, the NPCs didn't run in straight lines... for instance, the foxes I was fighting moved sideways like crabs and didn't turn correctly - like they weren't connected well to the terrain. The hitboxes for them were impossible to hit, and I have a high-end PC with premium fibre internet.

It just felt janky and like I could play just about anything else like Ark or 7Days or something to get a survival fix that would feel better.

Requested a refund for the game. I can't play this.

What idiot decided to make Nitrado the exclusive host for ASA? You want me to terminate my long-term gaming server host and move? No thanks. You just chopped off a HUGE chunk of your potential hosting community.

It wasn't the public servers that kept Ark going, it was the private hosting and mods. You ever hear of chopping off your nose to spite your face? That's what you just did Studio Wildcard.

Stop the insanity and kill the Nitrado agreement. I won't be creating a server on Nitrado.

By the way - I'm not returning the game in hopes they fix some of the performance stuff and terminate the Nitrado agreement, but I wouldn't recommend the game to new people at this point. Wait and see what happens and catch it on sale later.

I don't know what you all are talking about that are giving ST:I bad reviews. It's not polished like Stellaris is, but it also just released. I've been playing 30+ hours and my first game has gone just fine. There might be a couple little bugs but nothing game breaking. And there are certainly some tweaks that need to be made to the UI - some of the text is hard to read.

It's a fine start, and it'll just get better from here. We know what the track record for the dev team on Stellaris is - if you're concerned about early release, just wait. It's a good Star Trek game - it feels properly "Trek" to me.

I'm just waiting for a mod that adds in actual Star Trek music from the shows and movies. The music isn't fantastic.

I don't get the negative reviews. As a day 1 early access game, this is really solid. Ark and Rust and 7Days all wrapped together and better on day 1 than any of them were.

Yes, there are AI problems and yes they need to tweak the graphic settings for some resolutions, and yes, they're missing keyboard customization, but those are all short term issues.

You can build tanks and helicopters and turrets. There is a complex weapon system with attachments and with quality from normal to legendary. There are customizations for your tools. There's a tech tree and a traits system.

The bones are all here for a really good game, we just need to give it time - and they have time... like I said... early access.

It's worth $20 without a doubt right now, and it'll just get better as long as the developer keeps the updates coming.

Give it a try - they're adding more servers and you can run your own if you like also.

I bought this after watching the videos and reading the reviews. There's potential here, but it's not ready. I'll give it a couple months and see what fixes and improvements there are. I only played for a few hours, but was thinking about playing PoE the whole time. The game is slower, there are unnecessary mechanics - like the terrors during the night - that just make it not fun. It's not hard or terrible... I just don't want to play it as it is... I'd rather play just about anything else in my Steam library.

This is the worst $10 I've ever spent - this game is ruining my life, and it's all your fault! I can't put it down...

The production value is good and the quality is fine, but I just didn't enjoy it. The skill level difference for new players vs. people that have been in alpha and whatnot is too big. Yeah - I need to "git gud." No time for that - I'm not playing an unfun game long enough to "git gud," sorry.

If you're already a pro with prop games maybe you'll love this. If you're looking for a casual fun ghost hunting game this isn't for you. If they add match making to keep people with relative skill levels together maybe I'll repurchase it and change my review, but for now, I can't recommend and I'm refunding it.

Pros:
+ Deep crafting & base building
+ Regular updates enhance game play and provide more content
+ Good multiplayer works as intended
+ Weather - it's really fantastic! I find myself standing at my window just to look out and see lightning flash, trees fall over in the wind and see the rain whipping around.

Cons:
- Too much walking simulator - give me some tameable animals to ride or a craftable vehicle or maybe just some sort of glider.
- Limited animals and dangers
- Character models - doesn't matter that you don't get to see your face after the mission starts, I WANT TO CREATE A CHARACTER I THINK LOOKS GOOD. Give me more choices than these crappy ugly dudes as my avatar in the game. You want me to feel like I'm in the game, immersed? Let me make a character I identify with and have some attachment to.
- Once you get to stone, the environment and weather don't provide much challenge
- Base building doesn't affect strategy much - making it in the middle of the valley vs on the edge or over the water provides little strategic benefit. There aren't really defensive structures worth constructing or any challenge to your base worth mentioning.
- Repetitive game play - my game always goes like this:
1. Gather basic mats
2. Build base to craft better stuff
3. Wait until time is running out on the mission
4. Go do the mission... requires a lot of walking across the map
5. Walk ALL THE WAY BACK TO MY LANDING POD - a real waste of time generally... I've already completed the mission, give me a faster way out! Drop another pod for me at the mission complete area.
6. Repeat for next mission.

Summary:
I really like most of the game and appreciate the regular updates. I just wish the missions didn't require so much walking sometimes. For instance, on the gather/hunt mission, why do I need to gather down south and hunt up north? Why can't I do it all wherever I like and avoid the walking? Maybe you need to find ways to create danger for me at my base instead of forcing me to walk around to find danger... like have bear hordes attack my base or something. Add some tower defense stuff maybe. A new game mode? Also, I think there's a fundamental game design flaw in Icarus - they assumed we would create new characters often instead of wanting to grow a character and get attached to it - which is likely why they put little effort in to character creation and put the skill limits in. People want their character to be an avatar they can get attached to and see evolve over time. Think about that...
