Mine was too until I realized how pawn disposition actually works. Knowledge chair is useless. You need to buy the disposition potions from the dude in the initial encampment, first the one to wipe its disposition clean, then potions to layer the dispositions appropriately (because there are primary, secondary, and third layer dispositions).

Unfortunately, this method won't work for your family, though.
