The Greatest Piece of Media I've Ever Experienced

For a long time, I’ve seen many people praising The Witcher 3 as the best game ever. Then, at one point, I got the opportunity to jump in and see it for myself, and boy, how right they were.

This is the game that reignited my interest in exploring every single piece of content it has to offer after almost seven years of losing my spirit for playing single-player games. I held off on writing this review early, waiting until I had completed 100% of everything in this game so I could provide a complete review of my experience playing The Witcher 3. Here is my brief review of every aspect I could think of.

Main Quest

I don’t think it’s really necessary to explain the synopsis of this game, as it’s already widely known. The main story of The Witcher 3 truly taught me about consequences. The subtle choices you make in this game don’t always show their effects immediately. Sometimes, you are punished for a bad choice much later in the story, and you have to live with it because sometimes you don’t have a save file from before the decision. The same goes for good deeds or choices. For example, if you try to romance both Triss and Yen, you end up with neither.

One of the most interesting quests in the main story is “Through Time and Space.” It surprised me to see Geralt traveling through a few different worlds, which look vastly different from the one we explore in the main game.

Side Quests

For me, this is the first game where the side quests consistently piqued my interest. They’re not just “go here, kill this, and gather that.” Almost every side quest, including Contracts, has its own charm. Sometimes a normal Witcher Contract has a twist if Geralt decides to investigate further, which is not something every open-world RPG achieves.

Combat

From the start, I chose to play on Death March! difficulty so I could get all the achievements in a single run. Initially, combat felt like hell. I found myself saving my game every time I was about to start a fight, especially in situations where I was outnumbered, because most of the time I would die in two or three hits. Despite that, I think Death March is how this game is meant to be played. It forces you to pay attention to the many combat mechanics, like how to approach certain monsters, which oils are effective against them, and which signs or bombs to use. It makes you feel like a true Witcher who always prepares both physically and mentally before facing monsters.

Near the endgame, though, with a proper build, I could one-hit most monsters using Rend while being an absolute tank (Bear School Set is goated, fr). The combat mechanics themselves are okay to me, fairly simple and not too complex, which suits me overall.

Exploration

The world of The Witcher 3 is probably one of the best I’ve ever explored. From the hostile area of Velen, to Oxenfurt and Novigrad with their own stories, to the verticality of Skellige, and the unmatched beauty of Toussaint, the world in this game feels so alive. It’s the type of world where everything will just continue as it is with or without Geralt's presence, perfectly fitting the quote, “If you don’t, somebody will.” Velen is filled with various beasts and monsters; humans and non-humans live among each other in Novigrad and Oxenfurt; and Skellige faithfully presents Vikings in a fantasy world, and Toussaint with a pleasant mix of French and Italian culture.

My favorite region has to be Toussaint. It’s an outstandingly beautiful country in this game, and seeing the Beauclair Palace from a distance always mesmerized me. The city itself, Beauclair, seems to have already reached the Renaissance Era by 1275 (I think).

Music

The soundtrack in The Witcher 3 is probably one of the best. It enhances an already good experience to the next level. If I got bored with quests and contracts, sometimes I would just hop on Roach, let her go in any direction she wanted, while I enjoyed the music and the gorgeous views of Toussaint—until some random monsters appeared and the battle music started.

DLC

Blood and Wine is probably the best DLC I’ve ever played. It’s not just an extra quest; it also comes with an entire region of its own, the most beautiful and colorful one, Toussaint. Three years after the main game’s events, Geralt receives an invitation from the Duchess of Toussaint to unravel the mystery of The Beast of Beauclair.
B&W offers a significant upgrade to both Witcher gear and Geralt himself, and it’s the best content this game has to offer while also ramping up the monster difficulty to maintain the challenge. It also ultimately concludes Geralt’s long journey, allowing him to live a humble life ever after.

Hearts of Stone is also a great DLC, also one of the scariest, in my opinion. It revolves around the story of a pact with the devil.
HoS offers a nice addition to gear stats, mostly enhancing existing skills, and it also shows that Geralt isn’t some invincible one-man army who can slay anything. There are things even Geralt can’t fight or comprehend. Overall, a great DLC.

Conclusion

The Witcher 3 is a magnum opus, a masterpiece beautifully crafted by CDPR. Even after almost ten years, no open-world RPG has reached the heights that The Witcher 3 has.

If I had to sum up my review with a score, here are the numbers:
- Story: 10/10
- Exploration: 10/10
- Combat: 9/10
- Music: 10/10
- DLC: 10/10

Like what people said, getting this game at a sale price feels like robbing CDPR.

I gotta say, for the amount of contents the Demo shown, by far this is the BEST game demo I've ever played, I didn't expect an entire First Arc of the story to be a Demo, and also it seems save data can be carried over to the main game later, which is nice.

But, it is not all rainbow and sunshine.

FFXVI, or this Demo specifically, suffer what I say a major optimization issue, I have to tweak my graphics settings here and there to get a pleasant "gameplay" experience, while the cutscenes I felt getting blurry.
I ran the game on all Medium 1080p with DLSS + Frame Gen, and getting around 80FPS average, which later I locked to 72FPS (RTX 4050 Mobile 6GB, AMD Ryzen 5 8645HS, 16GB RAM, for those who actually read this maybe asking).

Another thing is about the cutscenes, it's locked to 30FPS for some reason, which I find quite infuriating, also as far I observed, the game suffer on major performance hit when the cutscenes rolled, especially on High settings, at some point I'm getting even 11FPS resulting the character voice and cutscenes did not sync.

Overall, the FFXVI Demo is an "Okay" demo as someone who are looking to test their system whether they could run it or not, it shows basically every fundamentals about the game mechanics, but FFXVI Demo really need more work into performance optimizations.

The Second Installment of The Trilogy
The Witcher 2 definitely an improvement from the first installment, in short an upgrade in many aspects like Story, Graphics, and Combat System, here's my review about few aspects I experienced throughout the entire game..

Main Story
For the Story, I find The Witcher 2 is a step up from the previous game, following the story of Geralt of Rivia after the first game, slowly gaining his lost memory back, and starting uncovered the mystery surrounding him. The concept of the story driven based on player's choice added a replayability value for this game, like you have to finish the game twice because there are two branches of story even tho it eventually coming to similar endings with many variations.
The Cutscenes for the entire story is very good in this game, it has a nice cinematic elements, sometimes worth to screenshot, it immerse you into the story even more.

Explorations
Explorations in The Witcher 2 is like an open world, technically having 3 major area throughout the story, separated by the story Chapter, once you finished a chapter, you cannot visit the previous area, and each area have their own side quests and stories which is nice (honestly it's rather tideous), it's not just like an empty void to wander around, you can get various armor and strong weapons by finishing some side quest on each chapter.

Combat
Combat system in The Witcher 2 is a massive improvement compared to the awkward system of The Witcher 1 which I couldn't bear of, the combat movement itself is fine, but it gets kinda repetitive after a while, especially the Riposte moves, besides that I enjoyed it mostly, I also like the Group Finisher skill that Geralt can do after filling the Adrenaline Bar to maximum, it's quite satisfying and sometimes can be a shortcut to end a tedious fight against a large foe.
and Boy.., Insane Difficulty is just a pure terror, you need to plan and prepare your every movement ahead.

Crafting and Alchemy
I will just combine it in a single section because the system is just similar, you find some materials from enemy loots or plants from the forest, and you craft anything based on what you need, like Armor Upgrade or Potions to enhance Geralt's ability depending on what Potion did you pick to consume, overall it's an okay system for me

Optimizations
I find The Witcher 2 is pretty rough in optimization, the game runs well actually, it usually around 70-80 FPS on max settings, BUT the thing is, I ran the game on a fairly strong system with an RTX 4050 Mobile, even on The Witcher 3, I can easily getting fairly above 100 FPS on absolute maximum settings without RT On which is strange compared to its predecessor, on the worst part, on Chapter II, when I pan my camera upon The Quary, it dropped into 35 FPS, yeah it's a rough experience.

Conclusions
The Witcher 2 overall is a great game, improving every aspects of the previous game without leaving it's core. It's not a perfect game by any means but nothing is perfect in this world anyway, the story is just not about good vs. bad, rather it placed you in the grey area, YOU as the player decided by yourself.

The Witcher 1 has a decent storyline with player decisions driven story so it's not too linear, actually nothing much to say in my short time playing.
The music is enyoyable, character voice acting sounds a bit amateur here an there, but it's an "okay" for me.
The graphics is quite decent for it's era, nothing much to say.
BUT the combat and movement is really sucks and awkward, which is a massive deal breaker for me, overall not quite a pleasant experience.
I played for a couple of hours and I couldn't bear it anymore lol, instead I just watched the story recap to grasp the main plot and went straight into The Witcher 2.

Might revisit the story later when Witcher 1 Remake is done.
It's worth to try anyway, the overall game system is just not my cup of tea, so...
Great start for the trilogy!

The Brotherhood in Paris
First of all, in terms of graphics and the atmosphere, AC Unity is a wonderful game, I took a bunch of screenshots just because sometimes it's a wallpaper material.
Yep, that's all.

Story
I can't say much about the storyline, for me it's okay and quite enjoyable, but I prefer the previous game like Black Flag and Rogue.

Gameplay
Parkour and Free Running in AC Unity is a hit or miss for me, the movement is smooth and satisfying in some places, but sometimes it become inconsistent, for example when I want to do Leap of Faith, Arno has different idea and jump straight away to the ground (Is he suicidal idk), also the parkour is pretty funny, like at some point Arno can jump so far ahead like he's on the Moon lol.
For Stealth gameplay, I still prefer like how they did in the previous titles, in Unity it seems they intentionally made so many things inconvenient. it's like a downgrade compared to Black Flag and Rogue, and the enemies are stupid, you left a dead body and guards finds out... that's it, no emergency alarm and such, like their ally died by natural cause lol.
As for Side Contents. way too many collectibles just to keep you busy which is unnecessary. usually I'm a Completionist in games I play, but in Unity, I won't bother to get the collectibles because it not really rewarding

Performance
The game has some serious performance issue. maybe due to the amount of NPCs can exist in a single area which is impressive for its time, and overall my system can run this game barely above 60 FPS on Max Settings.

Bugs
The game has many bugs, even a game breaking one sometimes, one time the game glitches it won't let me Attack nor parry the enemies (it's sucks.)

Overall
I think AC Unity is a decent game, it has way more potential that what it is now, such a pity, but it's still enjoyable overall
Score:
7/10 Worth to buy on Sales

Best atmosphere of all NFS games so far, and the story is pretty simple, just a few guys aiming to own the streets and nothing over the top..
People are right, the original handling sucks ass, this game far better to be played at least with UNITE PROJECT mod..
also bring Offline mode please, this game REALLY needs it, I don't want this game disappear just because the server shutting down eventually.

7/10 this game has way more potential than what it is now

It's a short game, around 5 hours and basically you finished the entire game, it has great mystery around it with a decent conclusion (I really thought it's gonna be a thriller game at first), and also no cliffhanger ending which is nice, it's a bit disappointing but still okay overall.
It's a relaxing game if you just want to walk around, it's mostly a walking simulator after all.
Both visual and atmosphere in this game is just a Chef's Kiss. you can take some random screenshot and you can use it as your desktop wallpaper.

9/10 I hope there are more games having this kind of art style
