I want to like this game so bad. For starters, the artists have done an excellent job, it is incredibly atmospheric, running through battles and seeing these giant robots and big guns destroying each other is amazing. My first raid I sat inside a bunker and watched the enemies kill eachother through the viewing window, it was awesome.

That said, the gameplay is atrocious. I don't think anyone who programmed the movement and gunplay has ever played a video game before. Here are some MAJOR issues that shouldn't have even ended up in the game.

Movement Issues:
1.) Sprinting is a straight line and you control left/right with the mouse, you CANNOT strafe while running.
2.) You have to build up momentum before you can run and it's slow as molasses, if you are being shot at good luck running away.
3.) You get stuck on terrain that your character should be able to walk up, like tiny little steps and ledges.
4.) Some things you can climb and others you can't for no reason.
5.) Invisible barriers everywhere, obvious places you should be able to go, you can't for no reason.
6.) It is possible to get VERY stuck, if you vault over invisible barrier terrain you can fall into it with no way back up/out.

Gunplay:
1.) Slow and clunky, it feels like I'm moving my character through water when aiming.
2.) Way too much recoil
3.) 3rd person -> 1st person is super disorientating, especially since you can't bind it to a toggle
4.) 3rd person aiming mode (alt) would solve #3, but when not aiming it zooms your camera in so you can't see 50% of the screen.
5.) No flashlight/accessory toggle, it's on all of the time.

Go play helldivers 2, or even something like metal gear solid 5 (which came out in 2015 btw), and compare the movement to this game. If I were Fun Dog Studios I would rework the movement and gunplay from scratch, and take notes from your competitors, they are absolutely wiping the floor with you right now. This could have been game of the year as this is such a unique take on extraction games, but you guys really fumbled the actual "game" part of your game. Art, atmosphere, and ideas are 10/10 with 1/10 gameplay.

TL;DR: this game is style over substance, it's a 3-d post-apocalyptic war safari sim with possibly the worst controls, movement, gunplay, and looting in any game I've ever played. Go watch youtube videos and let this one cook for another year, if it's still bad in a year then Fun Dog does not deserve your money.

Overall: 5/10

Story
I am not a big DC/Marvel fan, I find the stories very shallow, reductive, and immature. My expectations for the story were not very high and I was not disappointed to find that the story of this game is very shallow. There is zero and I mean absolutely no character development. The characters stay exactly the same from hour 0 to hour 30. King Shark is by far the best character and made me laugh a few times, but most of the jokes are out of place and unwarranted. I found myself frequently asking, "Is this supposed to be funny? Who finds this funny?" It is highly unlikely you will ever get a thought provoking deep story from DC/Marvel, they aren't interested in making you think, only to consume next product.

Gameplay
It's not bad, but it's not great. The traversal is pretty fun, each character has a unique mode of moving. Harley's movement is fun but it feels a lot slower then the rest. Also it felt as if rocksteady had copied movement from their other games, not a detractor as they are also fun to move around. Gunplay is serviceable, it does what it is intended to, nothing special. The special moves are alright, I liked the King Shark squad attack animations.

The enemies are really generic. I think there are maybe 6 or 7 variants. You'll be fighting the same enemies the entire game and it never changes. There are no unique mechanics to kill enemies, just shoot them until they die. Pretty boring after a few hours.

The bosses are extremely horrible. Each boss has maybe one or two moves which you can easily dodge, they become vulnerable, you pump them full of bullets, and they die. It really is not a challenging or enjoyable experience. You're fighting a boss, it should be a grandiose and great endeavour, make me feel like I have to work for it and get a sense of accomplishment from beating them.

The loot is the one highlight in the game. It's varied enough that you'll be getting different equipment every 15 mins. You can customise all the stats too which is nice. Some of the synergies of set gear was pretty fun to work with. The end game gear especially was fun, requires you to actually engage with a part of the game to get the buffs which is better then x% increase damage.

End Game
It's bad. It's really bad. You cycle through 3 missions to increase mastery rank to get more gear to repeat the same 3 missions. I'm not joking, the end game consists of 3 missions. There are "technically" 2 other missions at end game, but they do not provide advancement towards any mastery or gear. So there you have it, grinding the same 3 missions for what? Why would I do this for another 30 hours?

Microtransactions
Abysmal, absolutely abysmal. Cosmetics only which is alright, but the conversion of the in-game currency to USD is ~$1/100 credits and 2400 credits to buy one shop costume = $24 USD. Just to put into perspective how egregious this is, the entire game only costs $70 USD. So you're telling me that one cosmetic holds the same value as ~34% of the entire game? That is a disgusting valuation and straight up predatory.

Currently the shop exists to see how badly they can extort their customers for more money, not as providing a beneficial service to those who would like a unique costume.

TLDR
Fun for a few hours, movement is fun, combat is mediocre, enemies suck, story sucks, bosses suck, end game sucks, microtransactions super sucks. Do not recommend.

Just to illustrate how awesome this game is: I won an auction for a royal chair which pissed off the other bidders, one of them came to my house and sneak stole it from me so I kicked his ass and cut off his head. A lvl 100 Pai Mei shows up and says I have good martial arts skills and we become lovers.

10/10 would kiss Pai Mei again.

If you like kenshi isometric sandbox games you'll love this game. The island building was a detractor for me, but it actually works great. Translations are super wonky and it is a figure it out kind of game. It's $20 CAD and you can easily get your money's worth. Super fun, go buy it NOW!

As of writing this I'm 72 hours in. I want to like this game so bad, but it's just such a buggy mess. People are staring to run into some seriously game breaking bugs (myself included). Specifically around ships disappearing and being unable to dock at stations. Imagine my excitement to find out one of the major stations in the game is appearing 300 000km away and it would take me an IRL week to even get there. My ships are disappearing and I can't get them back. The only option is to start the game over.

I'm severely disgusted I've wasted so much time to end up with a broken save file. Oh and BGS has no plans of patches or updating this. It's absolutely pathetic. I can't recommend the game at this time as it is just too damn broken.

i9-13900k, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5, 6TB M.2 NVME, latest drivers and this game runs about as well as my grandma. See my grandma is dead and so she doesn't run, just like this game.

A common trend I'm finding with reviews is that this game has some serious potential and I agree. Some of the reasons I think it has amazing potential:

-The degree of movement options, you can run, crouch, sprint, dodge roll, glide, cling to walls, climb, slow time in air (with bow skill)
-Combat animation is fluid
-Lots of crafting options, enjoyable crafting
-Art style, it is a fairly aesthetic game

The biggest issues I have identified:

-Bug fixing
-English translations
-Climbing needs to be more fluid
-Combat needs stun lock for enemies or enemies to telegraph attacks
-Crafting needs more options. It is varied, but I would love to see the system expanded

I was expecting a large open world, but it is more like several small instanced islands as part of a larger world. Similar to dragon quest builders 2. Not sure if they want to make this a single large open world game, but I would definitely appreciate a move in that direction.

In its current state the single player is playable and enjoyable, even if they dropped the game right now you can still get quite a few fun hours. I highly recommend you support this game for what it could become.

After 45.9 hours played and 95% win ratio (duels, others was 85% and 84%), I can say for honor is garbage. Do not buy this game, it isn't worth the bandwidth it uses.

I suspect the life expectancy for the average person is 20 hours; after which the veil is lifted and you see through the facade. For honor is graphically amazing, the combat is exciting initially, and after a few hours you'll begin to get bored. The reason is that it does not offer any variation, fights begin to pan out identically and matches the same.

Save yourself the money and watch videos of this abortion on youtube, its the same experience as playing the game.

WARNING: This is a BAD IOS port, it's meant for iphones and ipads, if you don't believe me go to the following directory Versus Battle of the Gladiator\Engine\Config\BaseSystemSettings.ini search for "iphone".

Positives:
- Gladiators
- It runs

Negatives:
- Garbage animation
- IOS port
- Horrible control
- All fighting mechanics are all broken, dodging doesn't work, swings go through enemies, hit detection is non-existant
- Frequently stuck in objects/walls
- Can get endlessly spammed to death

DO NOT BUY, REFUND IMMEDIATELY!
