I really enjoy the game, but would love a practice mode or something. The amount of runs that end because of a reactor is too damn high

Early Access Review
Tbh, game is rather mid. Combat is slow, and you still spam mostly 1 ability. At least you are gem hunting a lot less. A lot of people complain the game is too difficult, it isn't. It is easy, but the enemies are super tanky and just take a while to kill, which makes playing the game tedious at best.

Boss fights are hit or miss. Most of them revolve around a single one ♥♥♥♥ mechanic you need to dodge, and they love to throw these out. Worst is playing this as a Witch Minion build. Minions are braindead, do little damage without very specific late game setups and bosses one shot them. So most of the boss fights you spend running in circles chipping away at the boss waiting for your minions to respawn just to be killed again before you can use their skills.

This game for me seems fairly mediocre from a design and balance standpoint.

As for story. PoE players love to bash D3 and D4 for having bad writing, but the writing here is utterly abysmal. As mediocre the story in Diabl0 is, at least you can easily follow along and know why you are going where you are going. Here, no idea. I just follow where they send me, there is little player agency, and the explanation/stakes are minimal at best. Even Elden Ring has a more clear story.

For now, i'd say it is not worth the asking price and wait for free to play.

Needs a lot of polish, but its good. Really good!

The combat needs to get some proper TLC, parrying feels abysmal, and simply holding your sword in the path of a swing does not block attacks.
Also some of the checkpoints are utterly abysmal, and they fell into the trap of having the boss intro before every fight if you die during it.

This game needs a good polishing pass, but it is quite good regardless.

Update: The game had a massive combat update, and it feels a lot better now. Would definitely recommend the game. I have now finished it, and i spend a bit less as 8 hours doing so. The story is interesting, and has a nice flow. The devs seem to care about the game, and have added an arena mode as a new beta feature.

I would love to see a new game+ feature, as well as a speedrunning mode. Other as that, 10/10 would recommend. If the price is a bit to steap for you, wait for a sale. This game is worth your time.

A lot of fun, but clearly in early access.
Art and music looks good.
Gameplay is great
Can use a bit of an improvement on onboarding the player.

So far pretty good. Game doesn't hold your hands, and is not afraid to kill you.

There is the standard UE jank but less vaseline smear compared to usual, and performance is less of what you expect. Game runs 60+ for me on Epic 1440p but DLSS Quality to prevent dropping below 50 at times.
3090 and 7800x3D, 64gb of ram.

P.S. Everyone complaining to performance issues, welcome to UE5. This is what you get when using that engine.

Seriously? After getting the Premium Edition, with the Season Pass they still sell you this?

For now I'd give it a recommendation, get it on sale if you are not sure.

Gameplay is fine, it is a continuation of Inquisitions gameplay, so don't expect any Origins here.
Writing and story is all over the place. Sometimes it is quite good, most of the time generic and nothing special. Other times it is really bad and cringe. There is dialog in this game that would make a Hallmark Christmas movie writer cringe.

For those that worry, yes, there are elements in this game that add zero to the narrative, world building or the overall story, and (in my opinion) the game would have been better without. It feels like virtue signaling, as it adds little, and feels like ticking off a checkbox, or trying to please a certain type of people. Adds nothing, could have done without. These things have been in all previous Bioware games, though they never put any focus on it. Now it is, shoved in your face, without adding anything to the narrative and world building. Feels really disjointed.

The more i play it the more i notice a specific thing. This game feels like two games. You can still see elements of the first game, and it feels like the development stopped for that at some point. After a while, someone new picked up the development, and tried to make it their own. You can however still see and feel that it once was an entirely different game. More like Inquisition, but darker.

Update: I think something just clicked for me. Theory time! I think development for this game started right after Inquisition ended, at least pre-production. After a few years, let's say 6 the game got canned, for whatever reason. Fast forward 2 years, and a totally new team of people gets told to salvage what is there and make a game to release, and so this new team did. They salvaged what is there, and finished it. But by doing so, they did this with their own coat of paint, and that is why the game feels so disjointed and inconsistent.
