While the visual art style in the game is second to none, the gameplay in GRIS suffers horribly due to the art style being the main focus of the developers. The art style can actually sometimes detract from the gameplay itself, opting to make the environment so detailed that it can often be difficult to spot certain gameplay elements, and sometimes it can even be difficult to tell what elements of the terrain are part of the background, or the foreground, leading to several instances of me running into walls. The level design can also be quite poor at times, one such example that i personally ran into was when you get an ability that lets you swim in and jump out of water. My first instinct was to use the new ability to backtrack into an area that was previously not accessable, yet this turned out to instead lead to a secret, meaning that you have to walk PAINFULLY SLOWLY all the way to the other side of the map, jump up some stair, and walk across the level AGAIN, JUST to enter the level that you were supposed to. The gameplay wasn't challenging or engaging, the artstyle works against the game itself at times, and the ONLY chase scene in the ENTIRE GAME LITERALLY plays itself. There are no checkpoints because you never die in the game, which actually makes the game even worse because instead of dying and being sent back to a previous part in the level to try again, you just have to shamefully walk back to the start of the puzzle knowing the jump you just failed was actually really easy, much like a majority of the jumps in the game.

Gris is very strange, because to me it feels like this should never had been a game at all. If this were instead a movie or short film, it would be an easy 10/10, able to tell a compelling story without any words, but because its a game, and the game itself isn't very enjoyable, it actually ruins all of the effort that went into its distinct visual style, and actually turns that visual style into a massive problem that clashes with the game. Also, the game is absolutely NOT re-playable, offering up very little reason to go back and do it again, and only takes ~3 hours to play through (~45 minutes of that is just holding the movement stick in a direction, and another 45 is wandering back and forth trying to stumble upon something). Don't buy this game, instead, watch a playthrough on Youtube so you dont have to deal with the infuriating inconsistencies in its gameplay and can actually enjoy what GRIS does well: Telling a story through its amazing 2D animation.

Great game, fanstastic and free, although the game sucks if you want to retain a sense of time, because you most certainly will not if you play this

Early Access Review
Very fun skill based team game, use your mouse to rotate your paddle and, well, slap the puck into the opposing goal! Sounds simple, but requires some SERIOUS skill to get good at. until then, its just fun to play with friends, and an all around good time.

10/10 - would purchase for free again

Bought this for ~$10 and it was a big waste of time. The campaign is fairly boring and the teammate AI are fairly useless. The only real reason why anyone would buy this is to play with friends, and even then you will be fairly useless if you have less than 4 people on a team. Aside from that, the only option for multiplayer is to play the campaign but with less story as there are no cut-scenes. So you are very limited in terms of multiplayer. Not to mention the gameplay is very clunky and restrictive, it feels like you're playing a third person rpg in first person, and it's just not comfortable at all. DO NOT buy this at full price, and buy on discount at you're own discretion. The most fun that came out of this game for me and a friend was trying to figure out how to get a refund from steam

tldr: Clunky gameplay, boring campaign, and need 3-4 people to have any success in multiplayer
