Game is pretty clearly still early access. Monetisation of cosmetics in game. Multiple features "coming soon". Game crashes seemingly at random every couple of matches. At its core a fun game, but clearly needs some work, and leaves a bad taste in my mouth that they prioritised putting a premium content shop over the regular game features.

I am going to preface this by saying I REALLY want to like this game. I actually really enjoy playing, I enjoy trying new builds for my ships and all the in depth customisation. However, the constant crashing and FPS drops is very very disappointing, I have crashed out of the game so much I have essentially never actually quit the game properly.

In addition, it seems that there are parts of the game that are missing, for example, vassalisation. I would have also liked to see more in depth economy, as it seems like you can open basically one steel mine and never have any issues with steel for the rest of the game. I would have liked to see as you make your ships or colonies better, they require more and more complex items and more of them so theres a constant ramp up of demand as the game progresses.

If this was early access, I would have held off, but buyer beware. Look online to see if the crashing is resolved. In the meantime, im just going to ahve to stop playing for a few months, which is really disappointing. Had I known the game would crash this much, I wouldnt have purchased the game. As it is, i have spent more than a few hours trying to get it to a stable state, and am well and truly past the refund window.

Classic Halo, Progression is a bit slow on the battlepass, but thats apparently being worked on.

The armor customisation has a few annoying features, which i am sure will be covered in other reviews. The gameplay is classic halo evolved, which means if you dont like halo, this wont win you over.

The battlepass is allegedly going to be updated, so maybe this will improve in the future?

Another Great story from Freebird Games. You should play To the moon. If you enjoy that, then play this.

Very Clearly inspired by fire emblem. I like the core gameplay, but it clearly needs some refinement in multiple different ways, I still have no idea WHY certain weapons are better than others in different situations, however, even if I did know, the way that upgrades occur means that my characters are effectively forced into using one weapon anyway.

there are a few little UI things that would be better with a bit more time in the oven, like the camera immediately panning to the top left when entering a battle when using a controller, the terrible way the UI works when using mouse + keyboard.

I think that theres just too many characters to really flesh out any individual character, and in fact, i think the game would be served by diverging more away from the FE formula. If we are playing on PC, embrace it and commit to having more in depth story and systems, BUT make it so we can actually see what they mean! Im still not even sure that the bonds between characters even mean anything when on the field!

Would have liked to see more graphically pleasing battles. The GBA FE graphics are fine, but if we are playing on pc, either ramp the graphics up or make each character more unique.

If you want to scratch the itch of FE on PC, this is definitely on the short list. Also check out "banner of the maid" which definitely has some of its own problems, but feels more well baked

Definately fun, and I hope to see more from this dev moving forward, as I would like more games in the Strategy RPG genre.

Very Basic game. Dont come looking for more than the most simple strategy and resource management.

No story, no characters, just the battle after battle, which never really gets any more complicated after the first few levels.

If the asking price was any higher, I would get a refund, but was okay for the asking price.

Classic creeper world strategy, but with a new spin. Fun strategy, Demo is free. Try the demo, if you like it the game gets more complicated and deep after the demo is over but the difficulty ramps up in a satisfying way.

Turns most of the regular RPG story telling beats on their head. Super satisfying to play and experience, even without the 18+ patch.

Would definitely recommend just on the story telling alone.

Early Access Review
The Anti-Rimworld or prison architect.

You can definately just use the poison/fire effect to blow everyone up, but I find that this is not really a satisfying way to play. Definately needs some time to grow to its full potential, there are interactions like causing someone to be a vampire, which effectively gives almost unlimited mana over time that could maybe need some work.

This game shines in its more complicated interactions, causing the slow accumulations of disagreements and fights by moving objects that one character owns into another characters room so they assume that the object has been stolen is very satisfying.

Game seems to be updating at a decent clip. The recent update changing the way plagues work definately makes the game more interesting. I hope the future updates change the way the rest of the game works in a similar way.
