great DLC don'T get me wrong, but I cannot recommend this DLC until they Fix the Commander Gaius boss fight. I literally just broke my right pinky finger in a fit of anger after my 60-160th attempt of him after trying multiple different builds, spirit ashes, and even co-op. I will be sending Fromsoft the bill as well once I get to the urgent care and come back.

there really is nothing I could add that is unique or witty that has not already been done.

This game is a blast. You'll laugh, cry, and scream slurs in this game. I cannot recommend it enough. I will warn you there is a slight problem with kids and a nasty little wall hack going around. But when you get the right team and play the objectives slow and steady you will love this game.

This is not so much a review but a journal page about my experience getting into Deep Rock Galactic.

TLDR: Best way to describe why I enjoy this game is that it scratches a strange itch that I never really knew I even had until I started scratching it.

A large community I am part of sets up heavily modded minecraft servers for about a month or two every year or so. Short lived as many folk flock to it and faction up to start creating the same thing they did last time. Underground cubes filled with randomly strewn factories to craft and mine things for them while they play the game more like factorio. The tech curve is a steady incline and they usually reach near end game by the second week.
Meanwhile, I've been in the caves since day one still just exploring the cave systems looking for ruins and treasures. The only managing I worry about is do I drop this stack of silver ore for another gold ore? I pop into the world with everyone else when it opens and head immediately for the caves.By the time I finally come up with what I think is a good haul of resources everyone else is standing around the start of complex machines that do the digging for them or computers that store and craft everything for them. I never reach the same tech as the them. when I do try, my machines are simple smelters for crafting or repairing better gear and tools for myself to go and mine by hand. My tech curve being more like stairs and honestly I preferred it that way.
It's November 2021 and one of the lads from this same community is in the teamspeak playing a game i've never really heard of yet i'd seen it before from a video a while back. I buy it and play through the tutorial. Ok it's kinda quirky, has a lot of personality and charm but hadn't really nailed me yet. But I wasn't bored, suddenly i'd just played 10 hours of this game right after buying it. What just happened? Why am I now looking up these guides? Hey that was cool I didn't know my class could do that. That's a banger tune. That's a really good fan shanty. Why do I now know it by heart? Hey little brother, have not talked with you in a while, come try this game, it's kinda cool.
Hey why do I feel nostalgic?
I'm now a scout main, I have my grappling gun and torchgun out more than my actual weapons as I soar through lit up rooms to the next nitra vein. My feet land on a quick foam platform just as it hardens and suddenly I'm back in that little cube game mining out every little scrap of mineral that's different from the basic stone. Things are a bit different though, I'm helping my friends, there are giant bugs trying to bite my beard off, and everyone is screaming about a bulk det that just showed up. This is better. Yeah were it not for that timer I'd be staying behind looking to see if there was some part of the cave we didn't explore or vein I might have missed. But that same feeling of exploring and finding lost ruins and treasures is there and so so much more satisfying.
I recently joined the DRG discord and met a few different folk with different play styles. They had high ranks and carefully crafted kits to be as effective and quick as possible. We didn't mesh well as here I am with a build that lets me have the most mobility possible to explore as much as I can. Do I get in trouble? Of course. But My team never has to worry about running out of ammo cause I love zipping around and mining the ore off the walls. Each strike of the pick to ore is bliss and satisfaction. And I get to do all of this while exploring with friends now. pointing out strange things, working on objectives together and saving them from time to time as well as being saved by them.
A few weeks ago another modded server popped up in the discord. And I didn't join them on it this time. Why would I? It went the exact same way as the times before. While they built their factories. I was off exploring and mining in caves, just not in the same game and with a few more bugs than before.

I will say I am starting to feel a slight burn out while i try to find that elusive sawed off shotgun upgrade that turns it into a gunpowder powered rocket booster. But this game still scratches that itch and I don't think it ever won't. With season 2 coming out here soon, I look forward to more things to find in my explorations.
Rock and Stone everyone

Ok where to begin with this poop of a game,
*the controls have so much deviation from normal games its impposible for muscle memory to even work,
*Servers are crappy
*Matchmaking system is broken
*the sensitivity in this game is so finiky, I set it to 16 I move my mouse one inch and i've spun like fifty times, set it to 15 and I
can't even move my aim
*They have jumped on the bandwagon and incorporated the hero/target player system to help drive sales.
*made the only game mode worth playing and threw it out (outbreak).
*refuses to fix certain glitches that allow for shooting from areas that shouldn't be possible.
*they sell this game as one that requires tactics but if you don't run and gun and have a reaction time of 0.05 then you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥ I guess ( I am too I guess since my fastest reaction time is 0.3)
in my final words for this game I wish I could get a refund for the game, the keyboard i broke from playing it, and the time wasted on this

So I have seen a reoccurring problem in these reviews, Most people are still on their first 2-5 planets and some haven't even left their starting system, I was one of these people until I decided to farm up a bunch of charges for my hyper drive and just see how far I could go before I was killed in a space battle or crashed or something and what I found was beautiful. I've found planets that are far different than the first three tutorial systems you start at and have cataloged animals that boggle the mind, I've now shifted to finding as many alien words and monoliths as I can, only stopping to fill my inventory with as much fuel as possible and flying off to the next monolith. Many are putting this game away thinking oh its just another grind fest and well i'm saying, no your just playing it like one, Many are complaining about the inventory as they try and cram as much as they can into their starting pack, don't do this, go look for a few drop pods and get some space upgrades, no more inventory problem, that and I love that they went with the 'your not a fudging pack mule' route with inventory. No man's sky is a rich game that has the potential to be a game I could get lost for hours on end in, and you can too if you would just let it. That and I think many people just want to be space pirates right off the bat and leach off others asap when that's not a smart move in this game.
