Tavern Master is a fun floorplan builder and planner centred around...your tavern! You get to name it, buy and arrange furniture and other decorations to maximize profits and aesthetic appeal..and profit. You get to hire (and fire) staff based on their skills, and they level up over time as well. As you achieve certain milestones or quests you get unlock other game items/mechanics, and after you've added a kitchen, you strive to get your recipes rated up to 5stars, which in turn earns you more money per serving sold.

The game is well done, with a bright visual appeal, and ran well with few bugs. The lone developer has plans for future improvements, and has solicited ideas from the community to improve things.

While you may unlock and see most of what the game has to offer in the first 15-20 hours, you can come back and try different tactics over and over, not to mention see what future patches bring. I'd definitely recommend it for the money.

The developer continues to be actively responsive to the community, and is fixing bugs, working on the AI, and has just added spiral stairs which greatly change some of the possibilities of your layouts.

The game is relaxing, engaging, and you should give it a try.

After one of the roughest starts ever, No Man's Sky continues to improve and expand with the free large-scale updates that Hello Games keeps providing, with no end in sight. The tone of the game has changed significantly from how it started, and more and more multiplayer integration allows people to take a break from the lonely exploration the game started with, and vehicles, base-building, and an increasing number of resource types to grow/harvest/trade should scratch the itch if you love min-maxing economies. Well worth it at full price, and a must-have when on sale.

I haven't completed the game as of yet, so reviewing it may be premature. From beginning to the mid-game I've experienced, the world-building/feel of the game is great. It would likely be amazing in VR, but even on a large monitor with good speakers (or headphones) it's very immersive. There's a fairly constant feeling of dread of running out of air, and for me at least, a worry I'll miss something in my rush to get to my next hit of air.

So far, I would recommend the game, especially if you get it on sale. Visuals and audio are solid, and the suspense of traversal, and slowly getting some idea of what has happened does keep you playing, at least as long as it doesn't wind you up too much.

The newest installment of Just Cause 4 is something of a mixed bag. Right off the bat, it often suffers from a tendency to tell or show you things, vs. letting you do them directly. So some of the final moments of certain larger goals, you get to watch Rico do the final coolest part, vs. you doing it. Even a moment very early on, shows you Rico is cool, (intervening in a standoff) vs. you doing something cool as Rico.

The new system for upgrading and configuring your grappling hook, including thrusters and lifter balloons is nice, but other things have been changed or feel dumbed down. Vehicle unlocks for having them air-dropped by your allies are locked behind stunts, vs. the 'take them to a garage' from JC3. The wingsuit 'courses' from JC3 are gone, replaced by simple stunts where you have to pass through 3 rings.

The new world has quite a bit of variety of terrain, animals, and the addition of the archaeology tasks is nice. The weather systems are impressive, although they don't necessarily impact you as often as they should outside specific missions. The tornado for example could have been turned up to 11 with multiple funnels for example.

Weapons feel solid, including special weapons like the wind gun and lightning gun. Enemies are reasonably good, with special-op type snipers and predator-camo type soldiers backing up the standard grunts. Physics though are even more broken that unusual in the game. As vehicles spawn in, they flail unrealistically to work out how to behave, with helicopters suddenly diving into the ground, or 737's trying (semi-succeeding) almost vertical takeoffs.

Unlike JC3 you deal with a more conflicted country, including battle lines between the rebels and the Black Hand. This mechanic has good points, but isn't as fleshed out as it could be. 'Taking' a given area sometimes relies on you completing a mission involving a base in that area, regardless of whether you have spare squads of freedom fighters, who really are just numbers and not represented in-game in a meaningful way.

The included music, through multiple radio stations is generally good, but lacks the humorous dictators mouthpiece like JC3 had, brilliantly voiced by David Tennant. So by and large, the enemy, and local populace, doesn't seem to care as you gobble up the various areas.

It's a worthwhile play, and you can get your moneys worth out of it. The story was reasonably interesting, and tried to bring personal stakes into it, reasonably successfully. Continued play other than to 100% it is questionable, since things like the Leaderboard for certain actions (i.e. longest freefall, etc.) aren't clear in terms of seeing where you rank. The lack of wingsuit courses again is one less thing to replay to better your own scores/times. Avalance has done some good work here once things get going, and the physics playground is still open after the story is told.

While worth the full price overall, I'd suggest grabbing it on sale if possible so if you aren't happy with the purchase, at least you didn't pay full price. For me, I'm now waiting on the DLC, which I hope will be better than most of those in JC3.

7D2D continues to work through early-access alpha, with the recent 17E (experimental) release dramatically changing a number of game elements from the previous 16.4 version. While there are definitely some growing pains, improved graphics, vehicles, more RPG-style skill system, and weapon/tool mods, there is a lot new to enjoy.

Aside from the changes, this game cotinues to be highly enjoyable played with friends, allowing elaborate building (above and below ground) and an expansive game world, which can either be the standard, hand-crafted map, or randomized maps of varying sizes.

For its price, I'd highly recommend it.

City Skylines stepped in and filled the void of disappointment that SimCity had left. With a system designed for mods and user content, an engaging building simulation, this is definitely one of those '5 more minutes...' games you'll keep coming back to. The fact the game is quite reasonably priced and often part of Steam sales makes it a must-buy if you like this type of city/traffic simulator. Add-ons from the publisher have generally been reasonably priced.

In short, I'd highly recommend grabbing this if you don't already have it.

Dishonored was a lot of fun, and gave me some of the feeling of playing Thief and Thief II back in the day. I was trying hard to play through it as nicely as I could, and as stealthily as I could as well.

The environments in the game are huge, atmospheric, and feel like real places. The relatively open world allows for multiple ways to achieve your goals, including skipping certain things completely. While not a complete sandbox/open-world game by a long shot, you're rewarded for exploration, enough buildings have at least one or two rooms you can enter to feel 'real', and the fact you can move about vertically (up and down) adds greatly to things.

At some point, I may restart the game as a remorseless killer, just for the fun, and to see how much faster I can do things. Either way, my time so far has been well spent.
