It's no secret that many seem to be "worn out" with the vampire theme in genre.

But this game makes being a vampire *so* fun that I can't help but indulge for hours making sure I choose the right elegant wallpaper to match the carpet for the interior decoration of my cliff-top gothic castle with views to die for. Literally.

I like it. I'll explain more another time just wanted to give this positive review now. Definitely still has work needed but such a unique and interesting experience.

One of the best launches I've been a part of. Played for 16 hours straight without a crash and only falling through geometry once which was easily resolved with a /stuck command.

tl;dr Outrider's crafting is nothing groundbreaking, but it solves the problem I've had with so many other looter shooters and I can say that I am now hooked.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

At first, I wasn't impressed. I played the demo for a day. Got to the max level. Graphics were decent enough but performance was a little meh. Gunplay was fun enough but it was "nothing special". Pretty much a standard looter shooter.

So I bought it and waited. Played the first day unlocked the crafting and my whole perception shifted for the better.

The 2 most important things for a "looter shooter" is the lootin' and the shootin'. What I have witnessed a lot of recent games in this genre is that they may get the shootin' right, but they fail at providing a lootin' experience that compliments the shootin' and hooks the player into wanting to play for an extended period of time. These games tend to have a hard time keeping their players interested in their endgame.

Outrider's crafting is nothing groundbreaking, but it solves the problem I've had with so many other looter shooters and I can say that I am now hooked. The crafting combined with the character progression has the potential to hold interest far into the endgame.

The moment I knew I was hooked was when I was able to know exactly the type of character I wanted to build start building that character as soon as crafting was unlocked.

You like a certain weapon? You can keep that weapon throughout the entire game by being able to level it up, mod it, and upgrade its rarity with the right amount of resources. The major problem other looter shooters has is they force the player to rely too much on RNGesus in order to build themselves to the way they want to play. Then they artificially limit the best of RNGesus in order to arbitrarily extend playtimes.

Not in Outriders. Build the way you want to play from the *beginning* and spend your time grinding towards making your style stronger instead of grinding towards *hoping* to get the right combinations of gear that will make your style possible.

Played for 8 hours. Got my party to level 3(level 6 is max right now). Great implementation of the 5e ruleset. The combat is difficult *mainly because of my horrible gameluck and constant crappy roles* and rewards smart play.

The scavenger guild you can dispatch to pickup loot you don't want to lug around is such a great and simple idea I don't know why other games of this genre didn't think of it. Now you can focus on picking up only what you want to use rather than everything you want to sell and use and have the Scavengers come pick up after a bit of time for for 20% of the profit. Simple quality of life.

Local Map quick travel waypoints is another great quality of life addition.

I'm slightly disappointed that there are only 6 classes(Warrior, Cleric, Wizard, Rogue, Ranger, Paladin) and 3 paths for each(except cleric with a bunch of domains). That may be because it's early access and more classes can be added in the future so it isn't a fundamental issue.

There is one thing I must warn about concerning Early Access. It is likely you won't be able to use your EA save once released so I wouldn't get *too* invested in it yet. What I am doing is buying the EA for the discount, played it for 8 hours to see if I enjoy it(I do, then I uninstalled and will eagerly wait for release.

Good job Tactical Adventures!
