THIS is how you make a dense game world with varied and interesting combat scenarios while also not only remaking an original game but improving on it!

Granted there wasn't much to improve on but this game is brilliant!! Game of the Decade/Console Generation!

Item switching is too slow

I don't care if this is such a niche problem, i'm at my breaking point after 1.2k hours.

I want to love this game but it's the little things that eat at me

At 90 Hours:

Lots of strange design choices, but feels like if a company made Left 4 Dead in a post CoD Warzone era. You got a menu dropping items, perk cards (you can build a deck and then go in with that deck to boost your character), kinda-sorta-special infected mimicking L4D's mutants...

$60 is asking a lot imo though. Wait for a sale.

IMO this is "Turtle Rock Studios wants to make L4D3 but can't use L4D assets since they sold it to Valve. Here's what they came up with" rather than "L4D3", and honestly, after getting over that hurdle (and it's a big one lemme tell ya), it's...honestly a good, solid game. Hardly any bugs (which is a shame that this point is actually worth saying nowadays), either.

Eager to see where they take this. If TRS doesn't give modding tools (for custom maps), I'm going to be very disappointed.

At 275 Hours:

L4D got fixed. Evolve got abandoned.

It's a modern take on most of the beats the original RE2 did. FYI it's a Third Person Shooter, but slowed down to fit the survival horror genre.

It's surprisingly well put together in today's sea of trash remakes / remasters. Certainly 9/10 material. Just don't go in here expecting Resident Evil 1 Remaster but for RE2, that's not what you get here

The biggest thing this game advertises is bullet drop. One notch at 100 meters on a .30-06 is too drastic a drop for any sort of 'realism'.

Do not buy.

Information Overload, terrible pacing, dreadful story presentation, sluggish menus, mouse problems, quick time events, context sensitive actions, and a terrible interface keep me from enjoying the extremely limited amount of combat I experienced. It may be an RPG but for one that's inspired by Dark Souls, it certainly does NOT KNOW WHEN TO SHUT UP.

3/10. Terrible way to tell a story via video games. I'm here to slice and dice, not get bogged down trying to figure out how to reequip my sword much less everything else the game wants you to do. Worst interface I've seen in my entire life.
