Titanfall 2 is one of if not the best FPS game of all time, truly a pinnacle of development, story and game-play: Unfortunately, it was shot in the leg before it got to run.

Undoubtedly, the best part of Titanfall 2 is the sensational campaign that will have you emotionally invested in the story, relations of the characters and even the morals and ethics of monopolistic warfare. The campaign has you play as Jack Cooper, Rifleman for the Frontier Militia during a warfare deployment that goes wrong. Before you have even fired a singular live round, Respawn manages to use an array of sounds, visuals and even haptic feedback (if you play on controller) to immerse you into the fear and anxiety that your character would feel just before being deployed into the hellscape of war; and this theme truly doesn't end. Respawn's graphic and sound design paired with the immaculate gameplay and movement mechanics is nothing short of incredible, no doubt helping Titanfall 2 land in the gaming hall of fame.

It doesn't just stop at the campaign however; Titanfall's multiplayer is a complete refresh to how competitor's FPS games feel. The games that were released around the time of Titanfall 2 were mainly foot-soldier grounded TDM style games with the exception of CoD: BO3 (but lets be honest, the BO3 campaign was lackluster at most compared to BO2 and the movement wasn't perfect by any means.). Nearly all of these games lacked some sort of goal or objective, making you feel obsolete and removing your immersion from the universe. Titanfall 2 is very different. The most obvious difference is the fact that Titanfall has, well, falling titans. The way the Titan's are designed and implemented into the game brings strategy into the mix when trying to win matches. Each titan has it's own advantages and disadvantages and each have their own learning curve, creating a rock paper scissors style match-up when playing against multiple other pilots. Another change from classic style shooters is the implementation of Perks/Classes. When making a loadout, you are able to choose a power up to help you gain the upper hand on the opponent and allows the game to have multiple play styles. These can be things like a Grappler, a Stim or even a Throwable that lets you see other players through walls.

Titanfall is also filled with lore. The Titanfall and Apex Legends series are all combined into one universe with a viable and immersive storyline, giving the player a place in time and a meaning to be there, rather than just being an aimless shooter.

Titanfall, isn't faultless though.

The multiplayer can have quite the learning curve sometimes, especially with all of the long time vets that will annihilate you.

There are also a few 'meta' guns/loadouts which can cause the multiplayer to become repetitive or even annoying, especially for a casual gamer.

Due to apex losing concurrent players, it seems like Titanfall is gaining old Apex players which unfortunately aren't the nicest group of people. (Public lobbies and especially the chat are becoming toxic and 'sweaty').

To me, the final nail in the coffin is this:

Over the years, EA and Respawn seemed like they were consciously ignoring Titanfall's existence. With all software, age and neglect generates game breaking bugs, which caused it to fall into a state of extreme disrepair for the past 1-2 years. There were constant DDoS attacks and server issues which caused the multiplayer to be completely unplayable. For a little credit though, the community made a work around which made it possible to host your own servers with your own anti-cheat. (If you are interested, it's called NorthStar); but the community shouldn't be the ones with the responsibility to do that. Unfortunately, this just repeats the lesson about "how big companies are not your friend and will do anything for money". It seems like EA took the easy route out and tried to milk Apex Legends for as long as they could. Working on Titanfall would be costly and from a analytical standpoint, the game was already essentially dead aside from the small cult following, so trying to reboot it's popularity seems redundant and it wouldn't be a good return.

However, it seems like the schizophrenia meds are kicking in (*insert the office "Oh my god, Okay it's happening!" gif*)

If you look and deeper than what meets the eye, there are currently a lot of coincidences happening within Apex and Titanfall 2; and when a similar coincidence happens more than 8 times (as of writing), it suspiciously becomes something called a pattern.

Arguably the biggest ones, is that Titanfall 2 got a hotfix/patch after all this time of Respawn ignoring it's existence. The servers are now operational once again and the anti cheat and DDoS protection has been updated with quite a few of the game breaking bugs being ironed out. EA's CEO has liked a tweet of someone saying that Titanfall 2 should have gotten a second chance, Respawn devs are tweeting out random clips of gameplay from Titanfall 2, which before this they had been radio silent on the game for years, the patch notes in the new Apex season have three lines of numbers, which are actually the unix time code for the release date of all three games.

Quite a bit more has happened, too much to list here, but they all point to two possible outcomes;

Titanfall 3 might actually have a chance, that isn't zero, of releasing very soon.

The other outcome being, EA are about to pull the stupidest move of the 21st century. If that being they pull some cash grab update to apex or someone thought that april fools needed to come early.

Either way, Respawn has the attention of me and quite a large amount of TF2 cult followers and sir, I, am a believer.

9.8/10 game, I highly recommend you buy it if you haven't already, and if it's on sale it's a no brainer. Get your skills up before the day arrives, when we will all rejoice and move on to something long overdue.
