Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis (hereafter referred to as "NGS") is, without a doubt, the worst Phantasy Star game ever to be released. The gameplay is boring and tedious, and the story is lackluster up until Chapter 5, which took two years to release.
It has been over two years (as of May 2024) and they still haven't fixed the broken Mag color coordination (affects PSO2-spec Mag forms when wearing PSO2-spec fashion), and the only workaround is to choose a fixed color, which requires spending $20 on Scratch Ticket items in both the base game and New Genesis, for a total of $40.
The only reason to bother with NGS is for the original Phantasy Star Online 2 (hereafter referred to as "the base game"), which, unlike NGS, is actually fun to play and has a great story (excluding Episodes IV and V), as SEGA made NGS a mandatory download to play the base game and stupidly requires players to complete NGS's tutorial before allowing them access to the superior game.
