TLDR:
Another great addition the series, with a few unfortunate flaws.

The good:

The game overall is beautiful. Bright and colorful with an overall "happy go lucky" vibe.
Combat is SUPER fluid, everything feels fun and your attacks feel like they have meaning.
Still getting consistent updates and additions even though this isn't a game that strikes me that would get that kind of online support, especially for free.
The depth of the characters really makes you think about your build, or if you don't want to, the game doesn't force you to.

The meh

The game is clearly not optimized for pc with the limited graphics options and no support for ultrawide. Not a deal breaker but just a bit more work than what a game that was built for PC would be like

The English voice acting is...fine? As someone who's fluent in Japanese and English I personally prefer the Japanese voices because some of the English translations are clearly not what the script intended, nothing you'd absolutely notice in gameplay.

I've also had the game crash on me once or twice, the game isn't a buggy mess or anything, just thought it should be mentioned. Of course that could be my own PC and you may never experience that.

The bad:

The main story is weirdly drawn out for a game with such a forgettable and uninteresting story. Like it didn't feel like an afterthought it just isn't anything spectacular and most definitely isn't the focus of the game.

The main story quests are also laughably easy. This game really doesn't get hard until post-game. So if you're looking for a challenge, either prepare to wait or maybe find another game.

Not particularly a negative, but the game is definitely leaning to a specific kind of person, the otaku/anime enjoying kind. If that's not your thing, then check gameplay online before pressing the purchase button. It's not over the top on the skin or anything like that. It's just...anime styled and has all the features that come with that.

Overall:
If you're looking for a game with more depth than a genshin or PSO2 with beautiful graphics and not a huge focus on story, this game is a great choice. However it may not be for everyone, but definitely worth it on sale or if you're already a fan of the Granblue Fantasy Series.

Easily one of the best visual novels out right now. Full of dumb high school humor and charm. The voice acting is extremely good for what the genre normally has. The branching paths are honestly just icing on the cake. Everyone needs to experience this game at LEAST once.

This is a review of New Genesis. Not base PSO2. The games ARE DIFFERENT.

TLDR: Great if you like games like genshin or JRPGS like nier automata/ xenoblade chronicles.

Goods:
The game has one of the best character creators of any game I've ever played.

Mechanically, the game feels amazing, very satisfying to beat enemies and level up.

The community while small, is overall quite friendly. Definitely an extroverts game.

For an MMORPG the game looks modern, good HDR support and support for FSR and DLSS.

An incredible level of customization for your character and "most" items can be obtained without money.

The game is truly free to play with no combat restrictions for players who don't want to spend.

Mids:
The game definitely is hard to grind for long times. Most of the activities are daily and are reshuffled on Tuesdays, so it can get a little stale by the end of the week.

The game isn't particularly difficult and the story isn't finished. If you're looking for a competitive experience this really isn't a game for you.

Crashing isn't uncommon, usually referred to in the community as "getting SEGA'D" personally has happened to me 3 times in the 250 hours I've played. However I've lost 0 progress to it, so it's not too big of a deal.

Most of the game really starts once you get level 75, while this isn't too hard to get given how fast you level up, the community of the game doesn't really exist at the lower levels.

The game plays its BEST with an alliance/friends. This game is rather boring alone. If you are someone who doesn't like interacting with other players this game will feel hollow and boring.

Bads:
This game does have a lot of paid content. Most if not all of it is cosmetic but if you want your character to look its best you kind of do have to spend real money due to the second issue of this game.

The player economy is VERY inflated. most of the popular or cutest items are near impossible to grind for simply due to the ridiculous price tag on everything. For a quick reference, doing all of your daily quests will give you 100,000 of the ingame currency called Meseta, small cosmetics like wings, hats, and special outfits can easily cost 10-30 million Meseta. Of course not all outfits cost that much, however thats a good idea of the kind of economy exists in the game.

This game is also a weeb game, not that that's a bad thing. It's just that if you're coming from something like WoW or other MMORPGs this game will feel odd with the amount of skin you're allowed to show and the overall nature of the game/community.

Overall Thoughts
I love this game. It has brought me countless hours of fun and gave me so many fun memories and wonderful friends. However, this game isn't going to be for everyone. If you enjoy customizing your character exactly how you want and showing off your fashion talents or even home designing skills in front of people, this game is for you. If you are looking for a deep story experience with loads of solo content, this game is not for you. It's probably my favorite MMORPG I've ever played, but definitely flawed.

The songs are hot, the variety is hot, miku is hot, the game is hot.
(Also if you can get the MMFX mod for the game and it makes the game even hotter)
