Groundhog Day game design: 30 minutes worth of content, that you play over and over and over again. Your game ends either by bad luck with the random number generation or by not being able to keep up with the increasing odds against you. Only small rewards, tied to XP, will allow you to inch forward with each retry. Player skill might speed up the progression, but the grind is real. It's a shame, art direction, presentation, core gameplay are all top notch.

Update: online play is live, the game is way more balanced and fair. 230 hours in and still not sick of it, highly recommended.

They're still tweaking gameplay elements, even behavior of a boss was adjusted. The promised online multi-player is still missing. The single-player adventure mode is hard as nails and not for the faint of heart. Spelunky 2 is a great game. It's still very recommendable in its current form, but maybe it should have been in Early Access for a year to manage expectations. Regardless, the constant updates and improvements show plenty of commitment by the dev team.

Surprisingly excellent game, brief but you cover so much ground (pun intended), pretty grand in terms of scale, they really nailed the joy of traversal.

Hell of game, very complex systems, steep learning curve, but when everything snaps into place, it delivers incredible gameplay moments.

I'm not that much into RTS games, but loved every second of this one. Tons of fun to be had.

Do you like TAITO games like Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands or Parasol Stars? Just play this game. Do it right now! You're in for a treat.

This shoot'em up is super fresh and unique in many ways. Its rank system scales with the player's skill level and is super beginner friendly. The action escalates quickly in a firework of fun chaos. The four directional shooting, weapon upgrades and clever shop system should delight even most seasoned STG fans. The excellent sprite work and soundtrack are the icing on the cake. Dezatopia is a modern classic. Highly recommend.

There's a lot to appreciate about Devil Engine. I would place this STG in the peak 32 bit era in terms of sprite work and CD based soundtrack. The gameplay isn't bullet hell, but more fast paced classic shoot 'em up action. Clearing the game is challenging, but also very satisfying. The dev team went the whole nine with unlocks, extras, modes and challenges. This game isn't a bare bone arcade game and more of an extended home release. Devil Engine is hell of a SHMUP (pun intended).

The player is a bomb laying chicken, stacks of bombs scale heights, kill baddies, destroy obstacles and if not careful ... also yourself. Its sprite work is really something, totally up there with the best. I had the biggest TAITO grin on my face while playing this puzzle platformer.

GOTY, highly recommended.
