BattleEye has supported Steam Deck/Linux for several years now, why it is GTA has decided to drop Steam Deck/Linux support for its online, despite working great, is beyond me.

1 minute review

pros:
- Is the good kind of difficult
- Has options for simcade style driving or simulator style driving
- Has multiplayer features
- Music ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slaps
- Pure catharsis in a racing game, idk why but after every race, hearing the main menu music gives me feelings of nostalgia

cons:
- AI can be super unfair at times, being mega fast in straight sections of a rally but being ass in technical sections
- Idk honestly, this game slaps

Got it for 5 bucks, don't regret my purchase for a second. Get the thing, play with friends, mega werf.

This game has nothing to do with religion.

But it makes me feel like a god.

So this game is a huge bout of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun. Imagine: Doom and Dark Souls had a kid. This is that kid. There are some issues I have with the game, most of which are movement.

To start the jump ability in this game is confusing to say the least, you think "oh I have an ability to extend my jump, so like a double jump right?" Not really, you have to hold the space bar whilst jumping to get a pseudo double jump. And it's just as jank as it sounds. Honestly, replace the ability with a double jump, it'd be more fun and less confusing.

Second is the grappling hook, it just feels really janky, it's really hard to describe unless you play the game for yourself (which I recommend you especially considering the game costs about as much as my lunch from Qdoba today). At the end of your swing you begin to loose momentum but you don't seem to gain momentum when swinging, but once you exit the grapple you gain a whole bunch of momentum. Super confusing and jank feeling. Not to mention I had a bunch of issues where I had to get really close to an edge to grapple, but if I fell off, couldn't use the grapple whilst in the air. What's the point of a grapple hook if I have to get right up to an edge, stop, then aim and use it, it totally breaks the flow of awesome movement in this game.

Another issue I had with movement was crouching, there was a part of this game where I had to crouch under something and it just made me lose all my momentum as I had to slowly crouch under this stupid rock. Maybe crouching should be avoided in map design or there should be a boosted slide to slide under objects.

The final issue I had with the movement is the verticality of it. There's an ability that allows you to attack from the air, which seems to communicate that I should be using more jumping throughout my movement, but the gravity essentially doesn't allow this. Gravity in Doom is quite low, allowing the player to use jumps to get out of corners when cornered by lower tiered enemies. Gravity in Bright Memory is super high, and not only makes the jump ability feel a little neutered it makes the platforming annoying.

Speaking of platforming I had some issues with that as well. I'm the type of person who rushes through platforming segments to get to the shooty segments, which are the best parts, imo. So when the platforms fall out from under me when I'm rushing through then, multiple times, requiring me to start from the beginning, multiple times, it gets old quick. Not to mention some of the platforms are unnecessarily small, I'm not playing Mario or Bubsy 3D, I'm playing an FPS with occasional platforming segments. These segments should not be this frustrating. Also whilst on the topic of map design, some of the fighting zones felt super cramped. In this game using a larger zone to fight in but filling it with more enemies makes the damage I take feel less like I got dealt a bad hand because of the tight space and more like it was actually my fault.

But let's talk about the things I like for a change, the shooting, oh my lord, the shooting. So good. The guns are downright violent in just shooting them, satisfying shooting sounds, animations, reloads, visual effects, mmmm so good. And once you get to shoot at enemies it gets even better, aiming at enemies' heads causes them to explode in a visceral and satisfying blood shower. Nothing more cathartic then a giant visual response indicating that you can aim well.

The sword and abilities, I felt were a little underused at times. There wasn't much importance placed on them in combat, nor were there many upgrades to encourage the player to use them. Possibly introducing these abilities and weapons a bit at a time by unlocking them more slowly would help? Idk, just wish they had a little more importance in combat. Maybe try upping the difficulty but make those abilities more powerful in turn? Not really a game designer, but I'm trying to throw in some constructive criticism.

Graphics, yeah if you couldn't tell by the preview images on Steam, the game is beautiful. Though it's quite taxing performance wise and could at times drop the framerate below 60fps in the most hectic of situations. Though nothing that made it unplayable.

Overall this game is great, highly recommend you give it a shot, tons of fun and I can't wait for more.

Absolutely awful, like a shoddy version of DOOM except not fun and not as nearly as easy to run. Bogged down by boring as hell, unskippable dialogue. The first hour of this game will constantly interrupt you with tutorial prompts THAT PAUSE THE GAME. I can barely run this game on a 4790k and 980ti medium settings at 2k without dynamic resolution scaling enabled.

Rushed, unfinished and an unloved version of DOOM.

Just buy DOOM

Absolutely one of the coolest VR games I've ever owned. It's like Beat Saber in the sense that this is one of those games that you buy VR FOR. Not only does this game have the coolest movement system, it has boss fights and a really cool and massive level. IT HAS CO-OP.

This game brought me that sense of wonder back from when I first hooked up my Vive and ran the tutorial. If you've been looking for a new VR game to play, this is it chief.

2/17/19 (97% completion, haven't beaten the drones under the island)
Well this game is an absolute blast, there's tons of nuances in the movement that add lots of depth and a high skill ceiling. Though I finished the game in around 2, excluding the drones (8 including the drones and some aimless ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around). So there needs to be more bosses and boss fights need to be a little longer (honestly, me and some random on a new file who's already completed the game, finished all the bosses in like 10 minutes), so maybe more crystals to shoot?

TL;DR the game is lacking content. Just go play the archer mini game on The Lab instead.

Honestly I thought this game looked really cool. I liked the bow game in The Lab. But honestly, the shooting just feels weird. Once you learn one game, unless the positions and mechanics of shooting, are the same or very similar, it doesn't feel right.

To start, the game lacks content, there are two game modes, time trial and wave mode. In time trial to try to get as many points as possible until the timer runs out. In wave mode you try to survive as many waves as possible before you get hit twice, by the square's projectiles. That's it, there's no tutorial, no challenges to complete. Nothing, you're on your own in a wave archer game (or a time trial archer game, which ever game mode you choose).

The initial concept is really good, but honestly it just feels like an incomplete game. The Lab's archer mini game has more depth then this whole game. If you want an archer game, just go play The Lab. It's free and doesn't require the player to constantly have to turn around to play. Along with that, there should be audio ques for when something spawns. So instead of me having to constantly turn around to see if something spawns, or see that a square is about to explode and it's almost too late, I can actually understand what's happening.
