Enjoying my time so far without any crashes and pretty stable performance (although I've settled for lesser quality)

TLDR: If you care about ultra graphics and 100+ fps then you probably wont see that here. If you don't want to use frame gen then you're best off waiting for patches.

If you're happy to use all the tools and compromise on graphics quality then you can get a fairly decent time out of it. It's a blast of a game and feels like a genuine step forward for borderlands.

Specs:

RTX 4070
16GB RAM
Intel Core i5 12400F (12th Gen)
NVidia drivers: Sept 10th 2025
Frame Gen: Yes
Resoltuion up-scaling: Yes
Preset: Medium
FPS: Around 70

OK, so not gonna lie, I'm playing the game on Medium settings with up-scaling & frame generation and only hitting about 70~ frames BUT i've had no crashes, no major frame dips and the performance keeps steady through a 4-5 hour play session.

It's absolute playable and enjoyable with this set up. If you're just looking to get on an play it and you really don't care if you have to use frame gen etc to get it running smooth then I would say go for it.

Should it be optimised? Yes, of course. I think it's clear that they've built this with frame gen in mind (to account for handhelds such as the switch 2) but I also think that this will be the future of games. Eventually these AI tools will be used over raw performance and optimisations and, as sad as that may be, we will have to accept it at some point.

If playing at ultra without any AI generation tools being used is your goal, it's not there for you yet. For everyone else - the game is fun, it feels like a generational leap forward for borderlands (especially after BL3) and you'll have a blast.
