As someone who played Chiv 1 and Mordhau, this title has probably the most refined mechanics of the bunch, with a focus on gameplay over everything else. It's become much more beginner friendly, while also still keeping a relatively high skill ceiling.

Dumb fun. Consistently keep coming back to this.

Real simulation gameplay, with fictional aircraft.
The radar simulation alone is just simmy-enough to be a gateway into so much more.

The addition of E-War sim also adds a factor other titles lack.

An experience so good, I bought it on PC again!
One of my favorite single player games in the past ten years, and a source of inspiration for me since first playing it.

Playing it on ultrawide, with HDR, and such crazy framerate has made re-experiencing it a fun time.

The failure here isn't software polish or anything. You should expect that of a BGS game.

The failure lies in the fundamental design of the game. It asks so much of you — especially patience — for little in return.
There lies an excuse that it's 'boring' by design; that this is how the explorers feel, bored. Anyone who's ever been in the wilderness on our own world knows that this is a lie.

There are better alternatives in the sandbox RPG genre nowadays. Games with better writing.
If writing bores you, hey, there's better sandbox RPGs with better game world interactivity. Alternatives with more immersive experiences. Alternatives that respect your intelligence as a player, and your time.

Bethesda is lucky that it has such a loyal fanbase and a powerful brand name to reel in the casual playerbase.

I wish we had an entire game with the tone of Phantom Liberty. Seriously. I'd trade almost all of Vanilla CP2077 for that experience.

One of the best games I've played in the past five years.
It's been a while since I genuinely felt dread upon the realization that the adventure had to eventually come to an end.

You almost certainly know by now if this sort of game is your thing. If you're on the fence, grab it.

Early Access Review
The best tactical co-op vr shooter, and it's not even close
Seriously one of the best surprises I've played in a while. 15 of us bought it day on day one after just streaming it to each other.

  • Aggressive, and sometimes clever AI.
  • Just enough weapon manipulation/simulation
  • Punishing lethality
For just those points alone, this game is worth it. But it excels in the small little details that add to make it a full package.
  • Loud and PUNCHY sound design
  • Satisfying environment interactions, (i.e. doors and objectives)
  • Chest rig customization (you can drag and drop your pouches ANYWHERE on your body)

I'm writing this on day one. Imagine what this'll be in a few months. Absolutely worth the $12 asking price.
