Great fun! Action movie scenes one after another.

Update: Latest patch wrecked havoc on the game. Bunch of guns are bugged, many have visual issues, framerates nerfed (again)... etc etc. Apparently this has happened bunch of times. Also, lack of content and what little we get is very underwhelming, so don't go in expecting to have what it already doesn't. Still worth a buy, just keep this in mind.

Update 2: Since last mention, every update has brought more or worse bug(s) and any additional content is mediocre or harmful to the gameplay. For New players, it will still probably be good fun, but higher difficulties are getting boring and any new additions just seem to be annoying, repurposed versions of previous designs.

Also: ADD GORILLAS TO THE GAME!

Clumsy to the point that stalkers feel approachable. Movement is janky, menus are stiff, even the graphics just feel wrong. Nothing is as it should be, which is surprising as earlier installations were okay at least.

Story seems interesting, setting is atmospheric and the tone dark. Would really like to enjoy this one, but combat and game design are so terrible that it is impossible. Sound design and voice acting, as far as I got to experience it, was alright, but audio quality was low, very odd. Overall artists definitely had a good thing going here, but designers and people behind the gameplay ruined it.

Short word about combat and game mechanics:
Combat is super janky and unreliable. Camera is whack. Fighting in close quarters is a nightmare of braindead camera angles and enemies rounding corners when you dodge. Saves are created in unfathomable places and some are far behind the bossfight, meaning you fight dosen grunts to get back into the bossfight, which bugs out and sends you straight to square one.

Game stutters like crazy, but this can be alleviated by changing some stuff on game files. Bad optimizations and terrible options. Here is some ways to make it a bit smoother experience:

In windows file explorer, go to %appdata% -> local -> AVGame -> Saved -> Config -> WindowsNoEditor
Into the "GameUserSettings.ini", add lines:
bEnableMouseSmoothing=false
bViewAccelerationEnabled=false
This removes mouse acceleration, which in this game, is clunky.

Also, in to the file "engine.ini", add lines:
[/script/engine.engine]
bSmoothFrameRate=false
This unlocks frame cap (62fps). Should you wish to cap it to something, you can go to "GameUserSettings.ini" and set "FrameRateLimit" to whatever you wish, like 144 if your monitor is set for that refresh rate. There are other settings that, at your own discretion, you can tweak, common sense applies.
If these settings do not apply when starting the game, set bot .ini files to read only (in rightclick->properties)

Anyway, long yap short, Good foundation, bad execution

Invasive "anti-cheat", collecting players information, janky unfun gameplay and the worst, absolutely laziest singleplayer, if you can even call it that. Also tons of obvious cheaters, apparently they are left to be despite the invasive anti-cheat?
Virtually nothing has been improved, yet many things drag behind earlier iterations, say battlefield 4 for example. Map design has been awful for a long time, and decline just won't stop. Not worth any money to get slapped by cheaters and bad game design, plus intrusions in technical aspects

Cool and good. I do have to admit that I was surprised by the amount of gang activities and major train accidents in Yakutsk. I sure as ♥♥♥♥ wouldn't be having drive-by fun in negative ten billion degrees that is considered average winter day there.

Outdated systems from base game don't quite keep up with demand of new mechanics. Point is to try to survive as long as you can, but it becomes frustrating before challenging. Group commands do not function, updated situation parameters cause engaging units to lose interest and disperse and such problems. If we get "military reinforcements", it would be fantastic to get something else than humvees without weapons. Lack of weaponized warcrimes is also disturbing. Idea behind the dlc is cool and lore ties in with IFZ.
