Gotta say, I really wanted to like this one... been looking for a decent campaign shooter for a while and this one looks so neat in the trailers.

But the trailers are pretty much all of the cool stuff you're going to see and some of it you only see once. The controls are janky, index constantly grabs onto ledges and whatnot because having your hands closed means it's constantly grabbing any ledges you happen to come across. The hover bike section was a nightmare, most mini game things pop up and give little to no information, or show up during combat so you can't read them until combat is over and by then, the message is gone and there are no logs I could find to review what I missed.

The shotgun, typically my favorite weapon in shooters, was abysmal. Hard to just SHOOT without triggering a "charged homing blast" which explodes immediately because you weren't trying to charge it. The pistol is ok, but you're pretty much going to be using JUST the SMG.

There's a semi-decent crafting system, but you only really need to upgrade the one gun you're going to use and make healing potions, the rest of it is completely useless unless it's scripted to force you to use it. Explanation of the crafting system is pretty non-existent, which is fine because the entire thing feels like it was an afterthought anyway.

The game had a LOT of potential, and perhaps part of the problem is I was expecting a AAA game and got a "meh" indie game instead, but it feels like the whole thing fell flat and was just dry. The plot was confusing and poorly explained, leaving you uninvested in the characters and story and therefore the outcome, the levels were a little confusing and felt pointless because most just loop back on themselves and you spend the entire time chasing around some super alien lady who has all the powers to do all the things and you get 3 crappy guns and no grenades or special skills of any kind.

I'd have loved to play as the weird alien chick lol I think it would have been more fun, even if I spent 3 levels dying from a weird purple spike in my leg...

Oh and a final note... there is such a thing as "optimization" devs... look it up. Your game ran completely inconsistently the entire time. I could play on max graphics on most levels, but some levels I would have to pause and turn them all the way down and the game STILL felt like a slideshow.

I'm not even a Harry Potter fan really... I got this game because my fiancee wanted to play and I figured I'd check it out too. I gotta say, it's got it's bugs and weird bits here and there, but nothing game breaking... the story is pretty well written, the people who crafted the game clearly love the Hogwarts lore/universe, and I had a lot of fun while playing it.

Cleared most of the achievements and I'm at least halfway through and if you asked me to describe the gameplay I would say it's like the Skyrim had a baby with Assassin's creed, but that baby was REALLY into Harry Potter.

In theory, it's a pretty cool game... if it wasn't super buggy, impossible to log into (which means multiplayer is inaccessible for me), and riddled with poor coding choices (overlays that don't work, network connections that refuse to connect and give no error messages, keybindings which freeze the story if they're not set ahead of time, etc.). I played it a few years ago when it first came out and was mildly underwhelmed, but I chalked that up to launch day hiccups, but here I am years later and the game is actually worse somehow?

Like... I almost tried to request a refund because it appeared there was no way to launch in VR because it won't connect to EA, so it brings up a black screen with a cancel button that you cannot press to exit the screen in VR. I use an Index, and my base stations sleep when not in use (duh), so toggling into VR froze up my headset because it doesn't wake the base stations.

The only way to play in VR (for me) is to first turn on VR, then turn of power management from my base stations, then turn VR off, turn the game on and get past the "Black cancel screen of death" because you can only do this in desktop mode, then make sure the base stations are on and "toggle VR mode" and wait for the very awkward hiccupy transition to complete. I cannot play multiplayer, though I'm guessing I wouldn't want to anyway with the way the rest of the game is coded (not to mention EA's bot issue from various other titles I've played).

I normally give good reviews, even if the game is meh, as long as it's clear it was a labor of love or there's some redeeming quality... I would say avoid this one until they get a real programming team to look at it and fix the bugs which should have been fixed on launch day.... years ago. Unless you're a die-hard Star Wars fan, then nothing I say is going to stop you and I can't blame you because if you can get past all the awful game-breaking, PVP killing bugs, the story is actually pretty neat at least and ties into the movies.

Not a huge fan myself, just really stubborn I guess lol

Edit: I figured out the Black Screen of Death issue - I apparently have 2 EA accounts and had tried to link the wrong one (?) to steam. Again, there was no information, no guide, no FAQ, and zero error message to indicate what was going on, why there was a problem, or why it wasn't connecting to the server... I just had to guess repeatedly until I got it right.

It's more fun when the game works and you don't have to jump through hoops to get the VR portion to work, but the whole buggy experience kind of ruined it for me. I'm playing until the campaign is over and then if Multiplayer is dead, I will probably just uninstall and go back to playing Elite Dangerous (a much better overall experience if you ask me as far as space flight sims go).

Awesome game, played during early access. The only issue I had is most of my friends are whiney babies who are afraid of spiders (assuming they're even tough enough to make it to the end of a game). I've played a lot of survival crafting games, and this one was by far one of the best. Very interesting and deep crafting and upgrade system, a lot of lore to be found all over the yard, and a storyline of sorts to keep it all interesting and tied together.

Personally, I think this game has what a lot of survival crafting games are missing, goals and a storyline to make you feel invested in what's going on in the game.

It's a good game, like playing beat saber, but the boxes are people and bullets and there's a fair amount of violence and death. Good music, graphics and sound, my only real complaint is that some of the "beats" (moments where you're supposed to strike an enemy) don't seem to match very well with the actual beat of the song you're listening to... that and the voice acting is laughably bad... but that almost makes me like it more lol so it's not really a negative in my book.

I'd love to see some modifications to some of the timing in certain cases, but for the most part, it's not too bad. Can't wait to see more content come out and since I've beaten the main campain (i'm top 10 or so on all except the first board), I hope to check out some of the custom maps.

I've had the Vive for about 2 years now and I've played my fair share of VR games in that time (feel free to check my profile lol). I bought this game a few months back and after playing it all the way through (and chasing down most of the achievements), I have to say this has to be one of the best VR games out at the moment. The atmosphere stays true to the series, the cinematics are well designed, the story is dark yet interesting, and even after i beat the game i find myself continuing to play as there is plenty to after the story ends and different ways to play through the game.

This is literally the only VR game I've played that made me feel anxious about every excursion. You're alone, it's dark, the undead are everywhere, the few humans you run into are either unfriendly or outright want to mug/kill you, and if you linger in the streets for too long, the Tower faction will ring the bells, stirring the herds of undead and flooding the streets with walkers (though there are always walker guts you can smear on yourself which makes this slightly less problematic later on).

There's looting, scavenging, crafting, a simple yet intuitive progression system, multiple callbacks to the series (Rick's revolver, ♥♥♥♥'s Bat, Michonne's Katana), and some classing ethical and moral dilemmas along the way which can impact the outcome of the storyline/ending. There are also quite a few hidden items or crafting recipes and even a couple of sidequests you can run into which switch things up a bit from time to time.

Most VR games are frustratingly short...spend 20 bucks on a 'VR experience' and it's usually over before it even gets good. This is a FULL GAME, even if you rush through it, ignore everything and just go for the goal with your blinders on, it's probably going to take more than a day to finish (unless you no-life it and play for 24+ hours straight and forego sleeping and eating lol).

The only real drawback/complaint that I have is when walkers respawn around a corner the second you lose line of sight, which can be frustrating when you're trying to search and area and have to double back or retreat. The only other drawback I can think of is that there is no Multiplayer for the game...this would easily be the best VR game of the year if it had multiplayer or co-op.

So I have had a VR headset for a year or 2 now and I have been on the hunt to find a good VR RPG game. Well I need look no further. This game is reminiscent of my old school days playing N64's Ocarina of Time, both graphically and stylistically. The combat is engaging, the boss fights are pretty epic and have some unique mechanics, the magic is well implemented, there is a progression system with perks and random boons or accessories you can find (if you bother to explore like me), and plenty of loot to go around.

This game manages to fit into a genre I have been dying to see come to VR since it's inception without leaning too heavily on existing game formats, providing a unique experience that makes you feel immersed without boring you to tears with 50 pages lore books or 10 minute conversations or cut scenes like some games litter everywhere (there are lore books, but they're short and easy to absorb/read). It also doesn't take itself too seriously, there are a few 4th wall jokes and some pretty neat easter egg-type references.

If you have a VR setup and are looking for a good VR RPG, then I heavily recommend this game.

So I don't know why there are so many reviews from people who have played this game for less than an hour and given it a negative review. Yea, there are some things that are a little clunky here or need fine tuning there, but this game is insanely fun and has a lot of potential (especially considering that it's only about 30% complete). Since I'm not playing this game on a potato like so many other reviewers, I will attempt to fill in the gaps beyond "I couldn't run it" or "I don't like EA games" which, while valid, don't actually do anything to REVIEW the game.

Graphics: Good, but need optimization. I have a pretty beefy computer and had to turn a few settings down to keep it above 30 fps. Outside of that, these are on par with Ark - if you've ever played it.

Gameplay: A few minor issues here, likely from features that aren't fully developed, but I have yet to run into anything game-breaking. Some of the creatures get stuck, and occasionally you get jumped by a panther or something which can kill you pretty quick (though I think this is intended and you can snare them with an item craftable pretty early on, effectively neutering them unless they ambush you).

The game system overall is designed very nicely, there are some minor resemblances to Ark (since they use the same engine). The leveling and crafting system is quite intuitive (unlike Ark) and you dont have to spend time trying to plan what skills you're going to not invest points into. You learn new skills and recipes by doing things related to the task, rather than by leveling and spending accumulated points, though you do still get stat points to raise your health, stamina, mana etc. on level up.

Each starting area has a town with it's own unique look (buildings, flora/fauna, etc.) and has npcs you can buy and sell items to and invest money should you choose to do so. There are guards which will kill you if you attack a citizen, but they will also kill any monsters that chase you back to the gates.

There also appears to be plans for player housing, a market system, and even the ability to become the freaking KING of the starting town for your race (which seems interesting for MP). You start the game off with a bunch of quests to help you get oriented, and there are more when the starter quest line is done to help you level up a bit. There are a plethora of monsters (the bestiary has over 50, and I think there are way more than what you'll see in the bestiary actually in the game), biomes, POIs, and more to explore as well (most of which I've still yet to uncover even after 60+ hours of gameplay at the time of writing this review).

So...tl;dr - this game is a lot of fun and has a lot of potential. Ignore the reviews from idiots who didn't even get past the loading screen and actually try it yourself or watch some gameplay videos before forming an opinion.

Land on strange planet. Build a base.

Wildlife appears docile at first. Go out scavenging for food and materials.

In a hole, mining random ore when a carniverous plant falls in and tries to eat my face. Shotgun it in its...face...thing.

Hours and loads of ore later, floating in space building a *huge* capital ship. Warp to another planet (Omicron).

Think my capital vessel is badass because...guns. Approach starbase in asteroid field.

Starbase has much pew-pew capital ship becomes swiss cheese fast. Retreat to nearby planet, forgets fore thrusters are destroyed.

Can't stop fast enough, plummet into the stratosphere. Stranded on Omicron, capital ship is now makeshift temporary base.

Good thing I still have my dropship in the hangar. And thank god the cargo is in-tact.

10/10 would crash again.

First, let me start this long review by saying this: Don't let the EXTREMELY outdated video they have uploaded here in steam be your first impression of the game or the deciding factor for you. The game looks much different and things have been changed and upgraded/updated many times over since that video was made. That video appears to have been in a very early alpha and is missing a butt load of features and graphical upgrades.

Moving on...

I've played a lot of sandbox survival games (Rust, DayZ, Unturned, etc.) and this is by far the best one I've played. The original alphas were very fast and the game progressed so quickly it felt like there was no point - you would have end game items in a few hours which really ruined the difficulty and challenge of the game. But the last few updates (and there are many of them and they come quite often in the form of sub-releases or new alpha versions), have really revolutionized gameplay for me.

You start off with basically nothing: a torch, a can of food, water, and a decent (upgraded) bandage. You then have the majority of the day to get some basic gear set up - find cotton to make cloth, use that to make some clothing, plant fibers, stones and sticks can be gathered to make a stone axe and a bow and arrows for basic protection. Then you need to find some place safe to stay the night - the zombies shamble slowly during the day, but run when the sun goes down.

Seems simple enough? Well that's just the start of it, you then have 6 more days to find better gear, hunt for food, gather recipe books to learn to craft new items, level up to craft higher quality gear and weapons, scrounge for gun parts to make some guns (if you have the recipe - if not, theres always the single shot blunderbuss...not recommended against a horde). Zombies can see you, hear you, smell you if you're carrying raw/cooked food, and feral hordes can sense you through walls...but they only come on the 7th day unless you set all zombies to feral mode. And you REALLY don't want to be outside with no defenses when that happens...though nothing is more terrifying than hiding in an abandoned house and hearing a feral horde beating at your walls and doors...the dogs growling and howling...and the giant wasps circling your base - all waiting for a chance to get at you.

And the game world is completely interactable and everything you do has an impact. You let those zombies beat at your base long enough, they will tear holes in the walls. Those walls will eventually lose structural integrity and sections of the floor/walls or even the whole building will collapse - with you inside. And if you survive the collapse, you still have the zombies to contend with. There are status effects: bleeding, burning, broken/sprained/mending leg, dysentery, infected, scent, stunned, etc. and stealth mechanics (including throwing rocks to lure zombies by the sound they make). You can tunnel deep into the ground, or try to modify an existing structure and build onto it, or build an entire base from scratch using wood (basic), scrap metal, concrete, reinforced concrete, iron, etc (with more to come) and almost everything is upgradeable or reinforceable. You can (and should) board up your windows and doors, block entry ways with plywood, and for 7th day hoards, even consider taking down stairs with an axe and rebuilding them the next day. Just be careful with whatever you build, as if the structure is not supported, or you dig too deep and wide, the possibility of a cave in or structure collapse can result in an untimely death.

Definitely worth the cash and time spent. The sense of gritty realism, amazing graphics and ambient effects and sounds, procedurally generated sounds/skies/terrain make every map feel like a new experience. And it's only going to get more awesome when Alpha 12 comes out...minibikes and upgraded physics and new random gen algorithms. What this game doesn't have, the developers are likely already working on adding.

Awesome game, survival/sandbox/tower defense with RPG and crafting elements, well supported and balanced pvp, challenging pve, steady releases, consistently patched to fix whatever bugs are found, and pretty much the best early access game I've ever played. I would give it a 10/10, but it's still in development and there are the occasional bugs, and the servers are kind of small (largest I've seen is a 40 man server and it can be laggy at times) so I will rate as 9/10.
