TL;DR : "Ready or not", we'd still sell the game full price for half-baked content. - VOID interactive, probably.

The more I saw this game, the more I thought I saw a real successor to SWAT 4, one of the best tactical games of all time.

Oh boy was I wrong. The game is completely half-baked for a 1.0 game. The AI is a mix of John Wick with Terminator with Robocop, being able to have inhumane reaction times as well as being insensitive to flashbangs or even smokes. Considering they are unpredictable and have X-Ray vision, not only this is unfair, but it breaks the fun at all, up to the point a community mod tweaks this to be more acceptable. If a community mod fixes the #1 issue reported for a complete year by almost every player around, you seriously need to ask questions about the priorities of your devteam.

In multiplayer, not filling your team with AI is unacceptable and makes the maps way harder than it should be. That'll be fixed in a future update, but the real question is "when?" considering how buggy it is. It also has many UI issues linked to this, where clients had to wait for the host to actually restart missions... Or exit completely the server. Nice.

Let's not talk about the story that they wanted to promote, and how illogical it is. They wanted to make a story mode with a lore, but as a result, even the lore doesn't have any sense at all. For a first mission, it feels way harder than the second one, where even its enemy placements have no logic at all. It's actually laughable where I got softlocked in a few missions, when an important person to arrest... Never spawned, running around the map for 45 minutes for absolutely nothing.

In its current state, game is playable but at the same time isn't. Since their 1.0 hotfix, it makes my game crash a lot of times for no single reason (unless opening doors and loading the lifeless hub map is one of them), the performances are awful, even with a RTX3080. For an Unreal Engine 4 game that feels basic in its usage, something's definitely wrong. The hostages or actors are lifeless, the voicelines are almost inexistant or barely heard...

Anyway, with all of these issues around, I asked for a refund. I will probably give a second chance once the game will be way more polished and with more content since it has mods support, but in its current state, it's the infamous Takedown: Red Sabre all over again. No QA, no listening from the community, nothing is there to prove VOID will deliver trust to their userbase as there's a high chance the devs will silently scam you over. And when you see the usage of AI for some art/textures and subtitles, how could you find that normal?

Save your 50€, and get SWAT 4 instead. You'll have a better game overall.

Payday 2 used to be good, when the game was initially launched. Then, the safe apocalypse appeared, and killed the game.
Then, all of this was removed. Game was fantastic once more despite those 82 overpriced DLCs.

However, the lords of the Apocalypse told them to strike again once the calm was brought back. Update 237 appeared. The fate of the game became more violent : Linux support is dropped, VR support is dropped, everything Steam-based was dropped to the EGS platform, mods are all broken, progression is broken, matchmaking doesn't even work, cheaters are more rampant. Players were doomed again, as they called it... The OVERKILLypse.

If you happen to get the game, revert the latest update, and have fun it it. Otherwise, pray you have at least an okay experience, which you will likely not get.

The OVERKILLypse will not be over folks. Be careful.

What you see is the result of the geniuses from Nvidia. After ruining Quake 2 with their absolutely unoptimized Q2RTX, here's another (?) team within Nvidia doing the exact same treatment, this time with Portal 1.

Yup. A game that uses nothing, is one of the simplest game ever, both graphically and aesthetically, resulting in a game that literally promotes the RTX4090 in the end, with worse effects than the basegame, random glitches or crashes everywhere...

To be honest, even with ultra presets, I seriously felt little to no differences in terms of graphical enhancements. Only the lights and FPS were affected. With a 3080 in 1440p, it stuttured like crazy.

I was hyped, I ended up disappointed like I've never been. I'll stick with the original game. It was absolutely perfect overall.

Early Access Review
As much as I liked the idea overall, the inclusion of Easy Anti-Cheat to make sure they limit the game to the maximum to force people buying premium currencies is absolutely bad.

What's with editors/developers doing absolutely stupid reasons to suicide their own games/creations?

EDIT : Game has fixed most critical bugs, is way more polished compared to the released version, so as promised, the review has been changed to positive. I'll still leave the review below for reference.

------------------------------------

Major XIII contributor here, and truly disappointed in it.

I've played the original game for YEARS, speedrunned it and gave lots of new strats to the original one like crazy, made mods. And most importantly, found huge amounts of bugs or coding errors. I really know my stuff for it.

The game just SUCKS at this current state. It's really easy to see how rushed it was; with the lack of animations, sounds, collisions, etc etc. The feeling just isn't there, and it just feels poor. But really really poor. Also the mouse acceleration reminds me of 007:Legends: a console game ported for PC. I thought that day was over? Apparently not.

Why didn't PlayMagic ask for the XIII Community help or QA tests to really see what was wrong, instead of going blind and release that... "Thing"? Not cool.

Also, local multiplayer exists atm... But you can't go there at all. Very useful.
