Quick review time!

Hearts of iron 4 is a map game. You are a painter, and you use certain tools to paint your canvas expanding your borders as a warmongering nation or successfully repealing a foreign invasion by the previously mentioned warmongers, or perhaps, maybe you want to try something more modern art and host a revolution in a bloody civil war? You can. The game allows you to. You control a nation and it's course, from politics, supply management, diplomacy, economics, military production and of course warfare, The perfect war simulator from 1936 to 1948 (or beyond). I love the fact the game is very customizable, You can make your own little armies and divisions have your generals assigned to them, it's kinda like you're playing with toy soldiers, though don't be mistaken...this is a simulation of war, and when the numbers of causalities are on the millions that's when you realize you're actually dealing with lives, a bit of a darker aspect to the game.

The game is good on its own... but the way Paradox does their games the DLC's are really important and those are the reason why I have so much time in the game, It's the added flavor that keeps you going back, mods as well. The workshop is full of works related to talented people that expand this game to the Cold War, alternative history paths, Star Wars and even Fallout to name a few. I would say that one of the most mind-blowing experiences I had was playing Turkey with it's DLC. Having the pressure of this almost messianic person in power that's a hero and did so much in the past, struggling with his health as it quickly deteriorates, as you must prepare the nation for a stable government to succeed him as Islamist fanatics, Kurds separatists and the Soviet Union want to take a bite out of you.

Honestly this game is likely my favorite game of all time. It's a 10 out of 10. You should buy it!
