At the end of the day, Elite: Dangerous is a wonderful game if you are ready to put in hours and hours for a game that doesn't love you back. The Odyssey update has been, for all intents and purposes, catastrophic, and the developers are showing nothing but disdain for their community, and seemingly, their game. Entire swaths of time will go by when Anti-Xeno gameplay is all but ignored. A new ship hasn't been released in ages, and money-making is ridiculously one-sided. If you want to grind out your credits efficiently, there are one, maybe two good ways to do so, and they get tedious extremely quickly.

That said, Elite: Dangerous has something no other game has. It's a true ship sim, in a way that no other game does. No other game, that I know of, will allow you to request docking from a station, have you follow protocol to dock, let you perform preflight checks, enjoy true space flight physics, and give you an array of sounds that are basically candy for your ears. Unfortunately, I simply can't recommend it, between the grind, and FDev's complete disregard for their own diehard fans.
