Not all that fun.

This game, unfortunately, BARELY scrapes past a good review. While this game is mechanically solid and very asthetically pleasing, it is more or less completely destroyed by a single mechanic: Spread. After defeating the Wall of Flesh, the last boss of pre-hardmode , the game enters hardmode, in which new enemies, ores, bosses, and content is unlocked. Unfortunately, this includes two things: The sudden spawning of a section of Corruption/Crimson/Hallow, and Spread. The spread mechanic involves the spreadings of the 3 previously mentioned biomes. You need to do massive containment projects in order to save your world, and these waste a huge amount of time, as destroying demon alters late game can randomly spawn a piece of those biomes around the world. This, also, can totally screw you over.

Just, play until the WoF and get a mod installed to stop Spread. The developers are idiots if they think that was a reasonable mechanic to add.

Addendum: This game, without the "Spread" mechanic, would probably be better than Minecraft for me.

As this is my first MGS game, I would like to say that it was an amazing ride. It was angering at points, but overall it was a fantastic experience.

Also, it includes Metal Gear Online 3, so that is a huge plus.

This game has improved a lot in the past couple of months. More SCPs, more roles to play, more guns, actual structured objectives, etc. The game is much more polished than before. Hopefully, this will improve more and more in the following months!

This game's fishing mini-game makes me want to murder someone. This is supposed to be a relaxing game, and it failed this within the first hour. Nice one, guys.

Pros:

Cons:
-Only about 1 hour long (Granted, it is free)
-Not the best Optimization

It might be unusual for someone with this few hours of this game on record to review it. It is an RPG, after all. Hundreds of hours are nessessary for a quality review. But the reason for this is that I first played this game on the Xbox 360. I have a roughly 2500 hours on this game, most of which were in PvP matches, with the rest being the main game, bosses, etc. My older brother bought this game before me, and when I was introduced to it, it slowly grew on me, as he guided me through it. After around 115 hours of playing, I beat the game. I was floored by how amazing this game is. And, in all honesty, there is little wrong with it. It will become my signature childhood game, and I adore it.

Pros:
+Hundreds if not thousands of hours of (likely) the most challenging, fun PvE and deepest PvP you'll ever play.
+A massive world, with cool locations and lore to learn and speculate
+Interesting characters, most of whom have decently sized storylines
+A bunch of weapons, armor, shields, and spells that you can choose for your play style, with lots of stats for those Micromanagers out there
+Includes the AotA DLC, containing some of the best bosses of the Souls Series
+Only $20

Cons:
-While most bosses are at the very least "okay," this game contains the worst boss in the Souls Series
-You must have DSfix and DSCM for this game to run remotely okay on PC
-Mouse/Keyboard Controls are awful without mods, just buy a controller.
-Unoptimized as all heck
-Somewhat glitchy
-Will likely never go on sale

Unless you have a lot of spare cash lying around to waste on a barely-competent Russian development studio and their premium service, and the patience of a saint, I wouldn't recommend this game.

Note: I have far more hours in the Non-Steam version of this game, so my total hour count is likely somewhere around 2000.

UPDATE: I have recently gotten back into War Thunder. New Tech Trees and vehicles are cool, but the prevalence of foliage camouflage with a huge number of players more or less cements this game as pay-to-win nonsense, and I refuse to let it take up space on my hard drive any longer.

I've been playing this game for over a decade. I make this negative review not out of hatred, but of love. This game has been decaying since 2020, and while I understand this game will never get another major content update, I just hope that the bot and cheating problem is fixed in some capacity, because it would be a darn shame of the remaining casual servers (and even competitive servers) were slowly consumed by the hack-bot menace. This game deserves better.
