A sedate romp through a shattered world, trying to figure out its history to, to see how it all happened... and maybe fix it?

THE GOOD:
  • I love how the game teaches you to translate the inscriptions. It's innovative and logical.
  • The world building is off the charts!
  • Excellent sound-design!
  • The artstyle feels weird at first, 2D characters in a 3D world? what? but it really grew on me. I think they get more out of characters this way than they would have with 3D character models.
  • Stable. I haven't had a single bug or crash in over 17 hours of game play.
  • the game has a New Game+ mode, where you get to keep the confirmed translations of words.

THE BAD:
  • Some mechanics are severely under-used or under-explained, like fatigue. It came up maybe four times during a playthrough and it always caught me off-guard.
  • If you hover over a destination on the map, Aliyah and a massive text-box will pop up to talk about said destination. Obscuring a majority of the map. Not just the once, but every time you hover over it. Even by accident. Extremely annoying if you're looking for a specific spot in a sea of other spots.
  • There is only a single save-file. Adding to that, you cannot restart a New Game+ playthrough. it will erase everything, including the original run. so you have to start from absolute scratch.
  • No graphical options what-so-ever. Seriously, HOW? this is a PC game? led me change the graphical options!

It's odd that, despite all the bad points, I really love this game... Over the course of two playthroughs I fell in love with this world. However, if you are at all unsure, then wait for a sale.
