In a matter of gameplay, I'll say that L4D2 definitely succeeds over it's first game. With more weapons, enemies, camapaigns etc. What it lacks however, is the dark tone and feeling, that the first game had, making it seem less creepy, and more just a fun zombie-shooting fest. The character animations seem to be less polished, too. Given that in the first game, when incapacitated, your model could turn around when looking behind yourself, while in this game, you can't. I did also prefer that when you died, you would turn into a ragdoll, rather than just an entity to fall over. Sure, the fall over thing is good, when you're lying flat on the ground, but the ragdolls had a more interesting feeling to it, also because it could happen, that your model would fall in funny ways. In terms of campaigns, it almost seems pointless to buy the old game now, since every campaign from the original game has been integrated into the this one. Still, I recommend buy the old one too, because it had the more dark feeling to it, and better animations. But if you're looking for gameplay and content, this one is better. Also, this game features alot of gamemodes called Mutations, which can help going back to the game for more fun.
