I was sceptical. I play such games only alone against AI or maybe coop against AI if one of my friends plays such a game. Without a story driven campaign it was some kind of risk for me to buy this game.

But if you look at my playtime you can see that i enjoyed this game anyway. I love the big space battles against a good AI. With space stations and the Titans there are explosions everywhere. But that reveals the only big drawback of this game. The outdated engine. With big fleet battles going on and having many AI oponents the game needs a very good CPU with much power per single core because it will only use one core.

But besides of this technical drawback i have much fun watching 2 big fleets battling each other, micro manage the special powers of my starship and after the fight extend my Solar Empire. And defend it at the other side of the empire one minute later. The research of the updates and the diplomacy are the icing of the cake.

And dont forget the good mods out there. First of all i have much fun with the "enhanced 4x mod". Great work.
