I'm going to be frank here, I find the game to be fun. I find that playing this game with friends is exponentially more fun. Playing as an Ogryn, and walloping heretics into the ground with a club, is fun. The level design is pure art, the music is inspiring, the game play is action packed. Get it on sale if you're cautious, refund it if you don't like it.

A favorite of my childhood, glad to see it back on the market. Check out the discussions board if you want online play.

Ascend: Hand of Kul, is fairly new and has a few bumps to be ironed out, but is still generaly well made none the less. Although it can be rather unforgiving at times, Hand of Kul will reward you for getting better and sticking through challenging segments similarly to Dark Souls. From the Free-To-Play aspect Hand of Kul does a fine job. The game gives you an option to buy high level items from the store, however you have a chance to find them by by going through dungeons (Which there are many of). Its a matter of are you going to buy it with real world money, or find it for free. This has happened to me many times over my short span of game play (about 19 hours). The "Store V.S. Chance" keeps the game safely away from Pay To Win. With that said, my only major gripe with Hand of Kul is the "Ascendtion" mechanic. Every five levels you'll have the option to ascend your champion, which means that version of your charecter at that time is sent into the game as an A.I. ememy for other players. This also makes you lose all your gear unless you spend 1000 in game currency (souls) to buy pillars which save your items. If you choose not to ascend, you get a level cap which you CAN NOT afford to have when enemys and A.I.s grow stronger as you play. It's a tad annoying but it's my only major complaint. If you want a challenge and want to harvest the souls of those who sant in your wake, download it. I suggest at least giving it a try. Rating 7/10
