TLDR at the end:

Star Trucker is one where i felt i needed to play quite a bit before i could properly give it a fair review, so here it goes.

To start of i really do like the game and its overall premise but theres reasons down below why it might not be for everyone in its current state.

This game can be incredibly tedious and frustrating especially early game. throughout my 10+ hours i've been "soft-locked" half a dozen times requiring me to restart from an older save to attempt to avoid getting "hard-locked".

One specific instance of this that happened to me a few days ago, had to do with the air filters where degradation on those starter filters will actually start producing less and less oxygen in the cab. I found around 60% life remaining was when you would start being in trouble. anyways skip a lot of headache and here i am driving the airless cab with my suit on desperately searching for a shop that has air filters (since they're not always available) this took me three reloads to just barely survive and continue on this save. had i continued after passing out, the character wakes up with over $5000 in fines which early game is enough to put you deep into the red and you cant buy anymore items until you climb out of debt.

So even if you prepare for the worst ahead of time the filters are so expensive that just to buy them youre forced to take on debt. In my save i finally caught a lucky break since being very in debt with only a case of spare parts to my name i stumbled upon three salvage drops back to back to back which really made me start feeling like i could finally breath again. from those i made a little over $10,000 way more than the delivery jobs do. of course it wasnt long before that was used up again on aditional parts.

Another major problem that needs to be tuned or fixed with a sleeping mechanic is that jobs based around time can be frustrating since the clock is 1:1 with real life meaning id have had to AFK or find something else to do for nearly an hours at times when delivering too early, a temporary fix is to go through the portal then comeback which might make you late and lose money but it beats sitting there for a long time.

TL:DR

So right now the devs have a lot of balancing that needs to be fixed, controls are great on controller but are missing basic PC functions like rebindable keys. Ultrawide support is pretty amazing and shows off the beautiful spacescapes the game has to offer. debris and rocks are far too close together but this might just be a balancing thing to attempt to keep us on the slower highways than skipping straight to the destination. solar flares happen extremely too frequently and really takes away any enjoyment those locations might have. Portals going to other sectors is the true way to travel in this game which might not be for everyone. also finally this isn't a replacement for ATS or ETS2 and i think the reviews that say that are definitely not giving the game a fair chance. This is really more like a driving/delivery game meets rouge-lite which is especially apparent the longer you survive.

So yes ill recommend the game because there's still a lot of enjoyment to be had here

I beat the game in 20 minutes

Pretty good game.

Theres some enjoyment to be had here but it does feel very barebones unfortunately. performance can be rough unless you have a pretty highend pc. controls are wacky and animations are really bad, you cant actually see the fish come out of the water theres a loading screen when its done. boating is kinda disappointing as well for the same reasons. multiplayer co op is fairly well done though, if its on sale its still worth it but definitely not at full price.

Yeah idk about this one, its more of a maybe than a straight No. Its just pretty janky in general and not a whole lot to really do. I guess my expectations were a bit high thinking this would basically be a life sim meets ETS2. Graphics are fine, controls are okay not great but okay. Loading stuff is actually great in theory but its too basic and forgiving. Parking doesnt have to be even remotely accurate either. The multiplayer aspect is pretty cool although my second job i did get sideswiped by somesome in a big truck going twice the speed limit. the price still seems a bit much for this and im not sure id ever want to play it again in its current state.
