Just for the record, I know nothing about fishing and this game didn't really convince me to learn more. However, for those interested, this game might not be the worst place to start as it does a good job at explaining what rods, baits and so on to use.

Besides fishing, you can hop in your boat or rented jeep and explore the world around you. It's a bummer, the map could've been more detailed but, at least, some thought was put into each biome, though wherever you go it all feels alike. A couple of DLCs are out so once you're done with the base game the option to buy additional maps for the hardcore fans is always there.

On top of that, making an in-game account allows you to join in on the fun with other players on the same server and compare your stats.

The game isn't without flaws, you will see jank and bugs here and there but that's kinda normal in this genre. Also, the tedium will set in after a while.

Even though most of the time I was driving around aimlessly and barely done any fishing, I still had blast. A great chill experience if you're looking to wind down with friends or alone. The game could've been cheaper, it's worth buying it while it goes on sale but definitely not for the full price.
