Tried it with a friend during the free to play weekend in 2023. Expected to have a laugh at yet another failed project of Dean 'Rocket' Hall... but somehow this is the one survival crafting game we keep coming back to every now and then. Its not a prefect game but they actively try to make the game better every week and keep it fresh that way.

Still a messy experience, audio quality is a severe downgrade, server browser only available for a mostly necro'ed gamemode, graphics/artstyle is meh at best. the 4 new maps i played were all lacking character and uninspired / unmemorable. TTK is downright the worst i've ever encountered in a BF-Game, but hey at least they added back classes. Vehicles and Teamplay still feel downright like forgotten "features". Dunno about the state of BF3/4 but if they're still alive I'd say rather play either of those

An EA title that plays better, feels better, look better and is better in terms of comprehensibility than many other ARPGs (which are fully released or even running as a live service game)

As someone who loved Harvest Moon as a kid/teen, I must say I enjoy this way more than the more recent Story Of Season games. A true labour of love by ConcernedApe

Everything is this game is great for an FPS: Graphics, gameplay, map-layout and even the singleplayer campaign is super fun, but due to bad marketing all we got was Apex Legends as a modern take on this franchise

The Veterans at 10 Chamber Collective really out did themselves. They are still "occasional" "run-killing" glitches happening. But Through the 4 Rundowns it really got better and better (on a technical level).
I highly recommend getting a dedicated group to play this game with for the best and most rewarding experience and remember getting the ♥♥♥♥ out is not about being fast but being smart

The Game in 1 sentence:
Still is "real" addition to the "main"(rebooted) XCOM series, although heavily streamlined and with a Twist.
Took me roughly 18hrs of actually playing this game to beat it on Expert Ironman (Had 2 mission after the midway point which I had to retry)
The new breach mechanic is fun and it's actually making the game better (as in you won't get "XCOM-ed" by randomly triggering some pods while trying to flank). Every mission has a fixed amount of encounters/battle-situations and you only have to fight what you can see (Except the occasional mission with a timer (aka Reinforcements, which tend to become overwhelming in the later half of the game if you're too slow). I must say I like the concept with fixed agents, although I wouldn't mind being able to "sacrifice" some redshirts in hope to gain the favor of RNGesus.
You can't really "fail/lose" the game even on Ironman. Failure to complwte a Mission main objective or one of your squad's agents dies (bleeds out... no one insta dies on your squad!), it's "Game Over" but you can restart the mission (even on Ironman) I suppose you gotta play Ironman & Hardcore to get somewhat close to the real Ironman experience. Sadly there is no real "salvaging of a mission that went south in this game", like you used to do in the "big" main entries. Sadly I must say the characters and cutscene artstyle is not really to my liking but it does the job of giving the characters a bit of "life". The narrative itself is nothing new but it ties the "story" and main missions well enough into the XCOM universe. (Let's face it we used to write our own Stories with our "usually" renamed recruits that we rose through the ranks of XCOM)

Addedum for those that don't plan on playing this game (buuh, you should imo) but want to know what happens in the "story":
This game's ending also hints for a new/possible "XCOM 3" but unlikely the Teaser shown in WotC, it doesnt hint to a Terror of the deep reboot, but might feature counterinsurgency as XCOM seems to have established the new "regime" representing all the faction from the Old World
