Pros:
+ Enjoyable rhythm based combat.
+ Wonderful soundtrack.
+ Colorful visuals art art style
+ Good amount of post-game and extra content.

Neutral:
= Platforming outside of combat is wacky when you are always fast falling. In combat, fast falling makes sense, but it makes the platforming tricky.

Cons:
- N/A

Pros:
+ Fun gunplay with satisfying hitsounds, Insane gun builds, and hillarous ragdolls.
+ Various characters/heroes which I all enjoyed playing as. Hard to pick a favorite when I want to play everyone.
+ Host-migration. When a host leaves mid-run, you'll reset to back to the last teleporter losing some progress and items after the last teleporter. Thank you for not making it abort the entire run.
+ Mid-run saves which you can leave between biomes and continue later.

Neutral:
= The main menu music is great, but the music for general combat felt lacking sadly. It is mostly non-energetic while you shoot the hordes.

Cons:
- Lots of level repeats which you'll notice after your 2nd/3rd run.

Pros:
+ A good compilation for SMB1, SMB2, and Deluxe fans.
+ You can rotate the camera without having to move.
+ Party Mini-games are unlocked from the start.
+ Assist mode and Infinite lives to help with those levels.

Neutral:
= Different physics which may feel off for some players.
= No arcade mode with limited lives, but I suppose you could try setting a death limit in Marathon mode and quitting when you reach that limit.

Cons:
- Classic Music is DLC. Would recommend getting it though.

9.5 hrs on record (9.2 hrs at review time)
Pros:
+ Jamming soundtrack.
+ Short and sweet 6 hours game.
+ Better quality of life compared to base game.

Mixed:
= Some glitches, nothing game breaking.
= Combat has a solid base but lacking some impact.
= Approaches (stages where you fight on the way to the boss) felt not really engaging. Just destroy the minimum amount of enemies to move to the next game because you don't get rewarded for destroying the enemies. You want to get to the boss battles quickly.
= Parry mode is fun if you want to play along with the rhythm. But some bosses have alot of down-time between parries.

Cons:
- Fast travel not available until near/past endgame. You will be walking a lot from homebase to the next boss.

Pros:
+ Strongly recommend for people who enjoyed Undertale/Deltarune
+ Killer soundtrack.
+ Every fight and secret are worth experiencing.
+ Eye candy effects.

Neutral:
= No rebinding keys.
= Motion sickness warning, as there is fights with distorting camera (FOV increasing and rotating cameras)

Cons:
- Music and sounds suddenly getting cutoff between transitions.

35.7 hrs on record (31.4 hrs at review time)
Pros:
+ Very arcade-like gameplay with little down-time so you're always getting constant action.
+ Music is very good, blasting beats to blast away robots.
+ You can easily get straight to the gameplay from the menu in seconds. Want to restart a level for a S+ rank? You can do it in a second.
+ Numerous characters/playstyles to unlock and try out.

Mixed:
= Base campaign is short, but the extra gamemodes/gameplay modifiers that make up for it.

Cons:
- Enemies sometimes getting stuck which getting full combo on a level sometimes frustrating.

Early Access Review
Pros:
+ Interesting to see freelancers go up against hordes of enemies after being used to Atlas Reactor's 4v4. Fun to line up those Area of Attacks and watch those damage numbers pop up.

Neutral:
= Constant softlocks, but they are constantly reported and known, so there is constant fixes that address this.
= Questionable enemy attack Line of Sights and damage. Suddenly one of your freelancers get's nuked through full walls despite being in cover and full health.
= Almost scratches that missing Atlas Reactor itch, good see the freelancers back in action. But the modified Plan/Buff/Dash/Attack/Move phases order (See Atlas's Reactor's phase system). It is still weird seeing dashes not being a counter to attacks.

Cons:
- Music is a bit too intense during missions, The music plays fast BPM that doesn't feel fitting when you're trying to think when making moves. I would it prefer to be like Atlas Reactor's dynamic music where it slows down during planning and kicks it up during combat phases.

The Good:
+ Faster level transitions for continuous action and easy to restart runs.
+ New mechanics and secrets to discover
+ Movement is tight and makes for some platforming satisfying.
+ Patches are often.

Mixed:
= Bomb sound is less satisfying then Spelunky HD. Some items' iconic sounds are replaced.
= Music gets a little repetitive with only 1 music per zone. The 3 random songs per zone in Spelunky 1 is reduced to 1 music.

The Bad:
- Non-Windows 10 users can't go spelunking. (Fixed with patch)

Should I buy Spelunky HD or Spelunky 2?
Spelunky 2 share the same core gameplay with Spelunky HD so you can learn most of the enemies and train your movement in Spelunky 1. It is okay to jump straight into Spelunky 2 without knowing the Spelunky's story, both are solid games.
