I enjoyed the horror part, until I got distracted by the base building and enjoyed that, then I got distracted by the farming, then the fishing, then the aesthetics, then my optimal box placement, then the story, then what monsters look like, then the ball, then the hole, then the monsters again, then factory optimization, then more dish washing, ohmigosh the dishes go ding, and drying is a thing too how to make that optimum?

I will say that this is a fantastic game that I loved playing. It fit perfectly with my want to challenge myself thoroughly but with a management sim. That being said, I think the worst thing about this game is that it is merely fantastic, and the sequel is a masterpiece for people like me. This is one of the only games I can say this with, but it's a shame that this fantastic game is required playing in order to get to a masterpiece.

So the game has fully released. Here's what I have to say.

Play this game for the atmosphere. Everything else comes second, from gameplay to music, acting to fighting, atmosphere trumps all. Everything else serves the atmosphere and if you like what you see of it in the trailers then you'll probablly like this game.

That being said, if the atmosphere isn't an immediate sell for you then it's hard to recommend this game. The gameplay is standard horror-fare, the story is intriguing and really fascinating, the voice acting is good enough to serve the story, and the price is reasonable. The atmosphere is the only point in which this game can reliably beat any other horror game for the same price.

That's not to say that if you don't like the atmosphere you won't like this game. It still has an intriguing plot to follow and some of the end boss fights do get somewhat imaginative. So perhaps you would still like it.

So yeah, I would recommend this game, but I would recommend playing the demo first. It's quick and easy to get through and gives you a solid dosing of the atmosphere I've been praising so much. Like I said before, if you don't like the atmosphere then it's a hard sell.

After playing up to the first boss I can safely say that I am going to thoroughly enjoy the game. Of course, I am a complete masochist and perfectionist in these type of games and love it. This game is for lovers of the platformer genre that want something of extreme difficulty but without the extreme cheapness that tends to go hand in hand with that kind of difficulty.
I have not experienced the whole game yet, so my opinion might change. But for now I recommend this to anyone who wants this kind of extreme difficulty.

After only a few minutes of gameplay I can already tell that this is a vast improvement. I have completed the original so I know the story and what can happen. However, the only difference I can tell is that the cursor for the lazy tends to slide all over the place. Also, nice touch with the trailer that explains what happened.

This game is absolutely fun but not for everyone. With charming poems, amazing music, and a combat system that I find fun but those who only play through the first few dungeons will find boring. This game is definitely in need of more options (graphics, windowed mode, sound options,...the list goes on and on) but it is still a very interesting game that I would recommend to anyone who is thinking that it looks fun.
