There aren't a lot of games where you are essentially told "Adapt or Die" due to the average gamer brain not being able to comphrehend much to begin with, but honestly, this game executes the idea of improvising your every move to an amazing degree.

By pausing time, you can plan out an exact route with what tools you have, where you'll use them, and how much you'll have left when you're through. The AI hits the sweetspot and greatly aids this premise, having a fair chance to spot you and interrupt your well laid plans a little (not to a point of irritation, though!), while equally having a chance to aid in your plan by leaving an area where you may have had to eliminate them.

The roguelite elements of the game, specifically character quirks, are a big part of why I return after each retired, captured, or killed character. Your quirks may either be upsides, having you play along with your strengths and change up your playstyle to accomodate the buffs, or they may be nerfs which you will have to juggle and consider in your approaches. Everything combined weaves a satisfying gameplay loop that has had me invested no matter how long I play the game.

The game may have its bugs and occasional flaws, but I feel the mechanics of the game that work well heavily outweigh the bad moments. Nothing beats the rush you get when you have to pick up a melee weapon dropped by an enemy to hit another enemy with JUST to close the distance and avoid a shotgun blast you couldn't have sped away from previously.
