Rainbow Six 3 Gold: If you want to play modded single player copy your game folder and make one installation with mods and the other one without mods. Create a shortcut to the .exe on your desktop for the other folder. Keep one folder clean with no mods only the multiplayer patch. Launch it when you want to play online.

You cannot mod your single player game and still play online. But the servers themselves have more modern mods anyways that will automatically be downloaded.
