A catastrophic event has knocked you out during the first day on the job… you wake up equipped with a heavy-grade exoskeleton, in a destroyed section of the complex. Robots gone haywire, insane augmented co-workers and rogue AI - everything wants you dead.

Combat
Combat feels smooth, unique, and fast paced. You can block attacks, duck under them, or even jump over them. Dodging is also smooth. There are also 5 different types of weapons, from staves to swords to huge hammers and axes. Each type has their own movesets and combos you can make, you can also include dodging and blocks to your combos. There will hopefully be a weapon type that suits your style, you just gotta find it. Each weapon type has weapon proficiency, which is your weapon level. Oh and enemies get harder the more you progress.

Crafting
Crafting is simple and sort of tedious. You need to cut an armored body part to obtain the schematic and then head to the Operations Room (which is basically home base) to craft the armor piece, given you have the materials needed. Each upgrade requires credits and a better material which are in MKs (MK1,MK2,MK3,MK4 etc.). Materials are found by cutting armor pieces you already have the schematic for, instead of another schematic, you get the materials needed to make that armor piece. This may become an annoyance for people.

Armor
Pretty neat. There are 3 types of armor, Operator, Goliath, and Sentinel. Goliath absorbs more damage, Operator consumes less stamina, and Sentinel is in the middle, providing good defense and stamina consumption. Each armor set has their own bonus. Some are great, some are horrible. You can also mix and match armor sets.

Leveling up and Implants
Unique. To level up, you need to increase your core power in the Operations Room. It will cost more credits each time you level up. You need core power to use your armor and implants. Implants are used to help you survive the onslaught of bosses and normal enemies alike. There are many implants, from healing stimulants to damage boosters to even core power extensions. Almost all implants use core power, the more advanced, the more core power it takes to use that implant. You get more implant slots by finding the newer exo suits and the more you level up your core power.

Audio
Not much to say. The boss music is no where close to as good as dark souls and the Operations Room's music can be really annoying, but that's just me. Luckily, someone made a guide on how to change the music to whatever you want! The voice acting is decent, the enemies make audio prompts that sound like they just got hot coffee spilled on them or if they got triggered because someone disagreed with their opinion

The story
I don't even know, I was too busy running away from enemies to even care. Just read the wiki or someone else's review.

The environment
Very good. Really feels like a huge factory and you can get a picture of what it may look like before everyone went nuts. There are 5 major areas.

Bosses
Challenging, and fun, but too few bosses. There are 5 bosses in The Surge and each have their own story and movesets. Each boss drops a weapon and a buttload of credits. If you kill them in a certain way, you can get their special boss weapon. Which is just a V2 of the same weapon if you killed the boss in a normal way

Pricing
Expensive. Buy it on a sale or on a trusted 3rd party site. Or if you want to be a badass, buy the game in full price. The major dlc, (A Walk in the Park) is quite pricey for what it offers, buy it if you are a badass or a big fan or just wait for a sale too. The CREO Special Employee Kit is not worth it because from what I heard, you just get 2 implants and a color for your exo suit.

Controls
Great. There is controller support and keyboard+mouse support. They both have great bindings and it comes down to what you prefer more. A keyboard and mouse, or a controller?

Difficulty
Challenging. I don't have much to say about the difficulty, but you will either find this game harder than what others say, or easier than what others say. It just comes down to experience and your capability to accept defeat and death.
