An absolute juggernaut of the arena FPS, the team at Embark have crafted this addictive game with the utmost of love, all for the low price of free. Movement is snappy and fluid, gunplay is solid and provides great feedback, and Embark clearly prioritize player's fun over tweaks to competitive eSports potential that has bogged so many within the genre. Updates are fed regularly, with game modes, maps, and weapons, with only cosmetics being purchasable with IRL currency. I never would have imagined being so excited for upcoming seasons and lore drops, and though you'll load into a match with the occasional cheater, this enjoyment continues every time I load up the game regardless of if I've taken a break or not, with friends or solo. If you enjoy FPS and want something that actually attempts to earn your attention instead of stringing you along, give this a shot. It's completely free, so what's the risk? Embark is leaving so many other studios in the dust with this one.

A shining gem of the free to play genre, but you probably knew that already. While nearly every free to play game attempts to addict the player, Warframe succeeds through it's stellar combat, fascinating world and art design, and deep, enthralling story. This coupled with Digital Extremes' constant involvement with their fanbase when deciding patches and additional content has crafted an understandably devoted and strong community, and finding friends to grind with and assist newcomers is rather pleasant despite its clout that may frighten those hesitant to jump in. Though the AI needs some improvements, and players will run into the occasional glitch (while rare, falling through a map is never fun), it's an incredible game that blows many full priced triple-As out of the water. Jump in with some friends or make some new ones; you won't regret it.
