Rather great, entertaining game. Biggest problems are needing a little polish in places, which don't make it unplayable, just sometimes are mild annoyances.

Edit: Since my review, it seems the company has gone out of business. While the game is officially "released", it's stil lacking reatures that were promised. Which is sad, but the community patch that's in the works seems to be trying to finish the game. So unless you don't mind waiting for the community patch, I really can no longer recommend this game.

So, this game has been out for almost two years, and despite a couple hours playing (motly offline while travelling), I can't really say I've found ti fun.

While Masters of Orion 3 (MoO3) is not a perfect game in terms of its mechanics, it has a certain charm and humor to it that is lacking from many games. The efforts made to make the combat system work, the ability to customize ships, the cute and sometimes interesting tech descriptions, the variety of races, the hidden 3D galaxy map (It actually is 3D, you have to hit a certain key combo for it, I think it's page down?) give the game a charm. Are parts of it not polished to an ideal shine? Yeeeaahhh, but compared to a lot of newer games out there that are broken from day 1 and don't even approach being fixed when they're abandoned, MoO3 has a lot to offer.

And yes, I know, I have barely an hours, I actually owned a CD copy for like the past fifteen years and it's one of the few games I return to every half-year when other games I might play a match or two and then never pick it up again.

As it stands now, Master of Orion is an okay game. Not a great game, not an awful game, but a rather generic 4X. Much of what made it's predecessors sucessful, their quirky humor hidden in the descriptions of technology and buildings, the ability to truly customize ships to a greater degree, the ability to build numerous fleets without being limited by a "command cap", and the ability to build as many orbital bases as you wanted, is gone. The parts that made it great and unique are gone. Perhaps they're just waiting in development? Who knows.

Where once we had the "Mystery X" researches if you found them, they've been replaced by the standard "economic victory", "research victory", "diplomatic victory", and "conquest victory". While fun, it takes away some of the fun, y'know?

So I will recommend it, but not as Masters of Orion, but as another generic 4x space game, until they make it truly as good as it's predecessors.

While not always the most challenging of games, Expeditions: Conquistador is fairly fun and entertaining.

While Galactic Inheritors has a solid foundation, it feels incomplete, and has quirks that could use some adressing.

While Colonial Conquest feels well put together, it plays more as a board-game rather than as a true video game. Which isn't a bad thing, if you were expecting a board game, but is something of a disappointment for a computer game. I would recommend the game if more effort were put into marking it more as a board game and rather than as a true video game.

It plays almost like a simplified version of Empire: Total War, or Crusader Kings II, and has some issues.

Harkening back to the days of the old Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dales (not Dark Alliance, I mean the REAL Baldur's Gate games that Bioware did), this game provides a touch of nostalgia for '90s/early 2000s gamers. If you enjoy a good RPG, with a dark gritty story, and a good nmber of places to go, and isn't going to break the bank for a new graphics card, this is definitely a game for you.

But seriously, it is a decent game, and very, very gritty.

While the game is quite obviously a port from a tablet (evidenced, in part, by the fact there's no quit button, oddly enough), it's entertaining. While not nearly as good as most other Sid Meier's games (I beat it in a couple hours, while multitasking), nor as in depth (you really don't get much in the way of build options, not creativity), it's not a bad little game. Could do with a LOT of polish (and maybe some swiss- I mean, upgrades and additions), but, like I said, not terrible. Would recommend, however, picking it up when it's on sale rather than the base price.
